I finally finished the R.U.S.K. Max today. 13" overall, 8" x 3/16" blade, 2" tall at it`s tallest point.. I left it in an "as forged" finish, and put torched and stained oak handles on it. Asking $165.00 shipped in U.S.A., money orders or checks only. Price includes leather sheath.

Oh, wow! That's a beast! I love the finish and handle combo. Just looking at it makes me want to chop up some fallen trees.

Great price point, too. This should be a serious contender in the "hefty chopper" category.

All the best,

- Mike

John,
Looks amazing! You outdid yourself with this brute!
The recurve really adds a lot of style to the blade.

What style of sheath were you planning for this guy?

I was just looking at Mentor's Hudson Bay post, and was thinking that style and color sheath might do this knife justice.

This is one bad-ass looking survival (from anything)-camp knife.

This one is being loaned out to Joezilla for a three day survival trip. When he`s done with it he will send me feedback.

Hey John I was looking at this knife and thought a version where the forward most belly of the blade then came straight back to the handle, like this, would make a nice chopper !

At the risk of sounding silly, how do you stain the handle?

This exact blade finish and handle may be my next R.U.S.K.
I was thinking about either ebony or black micarta for a subdued Night R.U.S.K. look, but this wood treatment of yours is even better. Dark, but not too dark. The character and warmth of wood. Paired with a dark brown leather sheath the color of the one that you made for my R.U.S.K. and Mentor's hudson bay knife.
The Cowboy tactical look.

I torch it first, then stain. After a couple of coats, I do my linseed oil finish.

When you get it back and make a sheath for it, post another shot of it. I like it.

I really think this big one looks great.
Currently set as my screen saver.

I was planning my next R.U.S.K. as another 'original' size, but this one turned out so well that I think I'm gonna order the MAX next time around.

I have no idea what happened to this knife  Kind of makes me want to reconsider the camp knife challenge.

I sure Hope you find out, I was looking at this Beauty "Everyday" In the Knife Maker's For Sale section, I really like It, It look's Great with the Forged Finish and Torched Oak Scales,
