Big One!

I never even got any replies on this one. None of my bigger models do very well, I may discontinue anything over 5". Not that the small ones are doing great either.

I was really looking forward to the field report on this one.

I am planning on ordering this very same knife, with a clip (of course), when I next order from you.

I think this is one of the nicest field knife designs I have ever seen. Your slight modifications to my original idea make it even better.
The 'as forged' finish is the show-stopper, in my eyes. Looks cool, but will keep the knife from looking 'used' as one uses it.

Just a note - My Hudson Bay 7" Came with an as-forged finish on the flats, and it does show a bit of wear with use (particularly after chopping and batoning). Scrubbing off dried pine sap also varied the colour a bit. Combined with the developing patina on the ground portion of the blade, it is definitely starting to look seasoned!

All the best,

- Mike

I figure if the knife comes with a using finish on it, some people might be more inclined to use it.

Probably true but I've noticed that John's knives just have that feel that makes you want to work them. Regardless the finish.

Got a pm from Joe, it looks like this is coming home this week. I`ll be sure to post pics of the sheath.

Me too. If I get stuck in Chicago this week I'll be checking in with you. Perhaps I'll see it in person.

I really like this knife. It is currently my screensaver. I feel it is one of the nicest looking knives I have seen, of John's 'primitive' style knives. (The roach belly being another)
The finish, both steel and wood, is awesome.

Just placed my order.

Same overall knife, but with brass rivets, and the rooikat clip as seen on the first R.U.S.K.

November will be a happy month in Rooville.
