BIG pocketknife/Darrin Sanders heat treating

Here is a 1950s Latama display switchblade that I recently repaired. Making the spring was not a problem, but heat treating it was! The spring (pictured on a 15" computer monitor) was 14 inches long and I have no way to harden/temper anything that big. Darrin Sanders offered to H/T it for me. I shipped the spring and about a week later it was back. I had to get my wife to hold the knife while I peened the pins, but I got it together fine. The spring works like a champ!
I can highly recommend Darrin to anyone who needs H/Ting done!

Can you actualy hold that knife when it opens or does it jump around?

It flips you over like a judo master... lol.

I think the knife is probably 8" and that is one of Bill's helper elve's work area.

LMAO! I wondered the same thing when I opened the package. I bet it does have a bit of a jolt. Thanks for the kind words Bill and thanks for the pic too. I need one of those for my watch pocket. HEHEHEHE
