  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Big Problem HT'ing Damascus -

An experiment that has been rolling around in my head for years. Nickel and other non freeors metals work harden. I have questioned the potential of the following:

Harden and temper the blade as usual, then put it in a hydraulic press or hammer it to work harden the non ferrous aspects of the blade then try rockwell or test cuts to see if there is any difference. The hamering may not require hard hits to work harden the niclel.

Just a thought. Good luck!

ED interesting thoughts
that would back up the thin layers of steel.

I would add that High carbons will work harden also
so you may double your efforts ...
.helping your problem :)
