Sanu was an old Kami who did great work and is no longer with HI. He was gone when I started collecting in early 2004. Here's a chance to snag some old school HI quality.

The knife is one of the largest Kobras made, 26" OAL and weighs 34 oz. Comes with Karda and Chakmak companion knife/burnisher and black buffalo hide covered wood scabbard that holds all 3 pieces and has a laced leather frog. Handle is very old rock-hard satisal (nepali oak) with some hard burl and pretty figure. Brass metalwork. Habaki bolster and "cow hoof" cho/kauri at base of blade. Sharp, straight and well balanced blade. Some minor sharpening marks on blade as received, but I've never used or sharpened it. (2nd pic shows reflections, not marks.)

This knife belonged to the late Rusty Slate and was bought at his estate sale run by Yangdu and Mamav. Chipped piece at top back of handle carefully repaired by me using red oak, and pommel reshaped and epoxied. Wood could have been matched better but it was the hardest I had to match the density of the satisal, and gives a nice contrast to the rest of the handle. You can see the fix in pic 3 and in the last closeup. Entire knife is solid and functional. Although Kobras are not intended for hard wood chopping, this is a heavy version of this model and should stand up well.

This blade sold originally for approx. $150 from HI. Price is $125 shipped priority insured (CONUS only), and I cover PP fees. It's already sharp, but I can put a razor edge on it if you want.

Please PM if interested, thanks.

Norm

I must not be high enough on the totem pole around here to PM or maybe I just can't figure out how to do it. I'll take it if it is still available and I'd just as soon you sharpened it. Let me know. My email is sixtlghorn@aol.com. Thanks.
