Just wanted to shout out to Jordan Wagner at DLT, he went the extra mile to pick a knife out for me to ensure everything was exactly how i wanted in the fit and finish department, and i mean exactly what i wanted. He was happy to do it and it's service like that that will make customers come back for future purchases. You would think it's just normal practice, but i know of 2 very large dealers that refused to check the fit and finish for me on very expensive folders in the past, needless to say they wont be getting a cent of my money.

Being in Australia it's hard to take a gamble sometimes on expensive folders as sending them back overseas due to defects is a very painful process. Very happy and big thanks again Jordan.

You just can’t beat DLT’s customer service. No other dealer comes close. That is why I always buy from them. I will wait for an out of stock knife to get back in stock before buying from any others.

Mick, your transactions are none of my business, but I can see why some dealers won't sort through inventory to cherry pick a product for a customer.... When you purchase a product from a dealer you are paying for a product that a manufacturer says meets that manufacturers specifications and requirements for that product..... If the products sent to a dealer aren't properly made then the dealer needs to take that up with the manufacturer and or return said defective merchandise..... If you, the customer, require a "special" product then that becomes a "special order"…….
The problem with cherry picking, to find the best of the bunch, is that some poor slob is going to pay the same amount for the last of the group when all the cherry picked items are gone...….. And, is that fair to that poor slob that paid his money, same as you?...…. I say take your chances as all the other customers and if a manufacturer fails to deliver product to the requirements he is obligated to, then don't buy from that manufacturer again..... Just my opinion...…..

I see what you're getting at. But i disagree, if the manufacturer says that it meets their specifications - then why do they acknowledge that it is a defect and then fix the issue, i'm not willing to take the fall for a quality control issue that has been acknowledged as then "out of spec". It might be trivial for you guys who live in the US to receive a lemon, then return it in 1 or 2 days via shipping, then have it back to you quite fast and fairly cheap. If you were overseas like myself and others, i doubt you would be willing to take the plunge and pay full price, knowing full well that if there is a defect you personally will have to pay the cost of shipping back, dealing with customs issues and wait a month or two etc. Also, in regards to what you're saying about some poor guy getting the last of the not so perfect ones, doesnt that exact same thing happen when you guys in the US go to a brick and mortar store and personally hand pick the knife you want? inspecting it for all defects? Why should people outside of the US be punished because of our location? We pay the same money as the guy who has the ability to walk into a brick and mortar. Or do you personally just grab one like a lucky dip with your eyes closed and take the gamble to be fair to others? I'm not asking in a rude way, just saying the facts because it goes both ways.

Mick,
Maybe a good way to handle it is to charge the guy that wants his knife cherry picked a 10% adder and then give that 10% off to the guy who buys his knife sight unseen...…??

We could go back and forth on this for ages, and both sides of the coin would have a point. Rather than ask me, perhaps this is a question you better posed to dealers, since they are the ones happy to do it, as you can see people above also request the same. Its a business and money driven world out there, and sellers willing to go the extra mile get the business. A moral standpoint on the matter is pointless, since its subjective. At the end of the day, if a production knife company is going to charge 700 bucks for a folder, you can bet your socks im getting a perfect one. Cheers
