BIG update on the build-a-long bow

Awesome video.

I keep farting' around and saying I'm going to get into traditional archery but I inevitably let other things get in the way. I find it all a bit intimidating as well to tell you the truth. So kudos to you for just jumping in and not being afraid to fail.

We should get together sometime for a hike or bushcraft outing. Judging from your username, accent, and location I feel like we're probably located pretty close. I'm in Howard County.

Great bow, thanks for the inspiration.

Jump on in - you'll love it!

I work in Howard County! We should definitely hike or bushcraft or something. If you want to make some bows out of board staves it will cost about $8 per bow and I have lots of cut outs and measurements for different styles. Do you know where Camp Ilchester is, near patapsaco st park? The ranger there makes bows too and will lend a hand.

i want to make some sort of long/primitive/survival/hunting bow. what do i need to know where do i need to go and what is the easiest style for beginners? is there some other forum, thread, or online resource i can go to to get my feet on the ground?

thx

thanks man! i have got some reading to do... but i am into the primitive thing too (as i think we all are) but i think this might be what i am looking for thanks

Vaguely, I play disc golf @ Rockburn Branch park which is just down the road from Ilchester. I do most of my hiking in Patapsco State Park.

Shoot me a PM and we'll get together! I'm def interested in the primitive bow stuff

I've been eyeing a Fred Bear Montana for a few years. I know it isn't "primitive" but it looks like an affordable way to get into traditional hunting.:D

Primitive - no but neither is my Howard Hill. You could do a HECK of a lot worse than a Bear Montana. That's a great bow - you'll love it.

I'll second that. The Fred Bear Montana is one of my favorites. I've been shooting a PSE Sequoia more this year but its a very close second.
