You have a gift of being able to minimalize the components and keep it all super-clean. An 'Economy of Excellence' in your work.
Good post. You got away with clean photos. This time. One of the biggest mistakes a maker can do is to post hasty photos, in their exuberance. Patience....
Ray - really great knife - I have one of your bowies in bloodwood - one of my favorites as far as your knives are concerned - this one looks even better. I agree with everything everyone else has said, especially Jim Coopers statement "An Economy of Excellence". This is what draws me to your knives everytime I see one posted. Really really nice. I have to keep coming back to this post.
Thanks again you guys for all the kind words. Comments are really encouraging coming from people whose work I admire. It also feels great to read good stuff from customers who own some of my knives. I will sleep happily tonight
I just finished stitching the sheath. I'm still going to put a few coats of oil on it so it will darken up some. I also plan to make a wrap around retention strap to go on the stud. I'm not much of a sheathmaker so it's a simple sheath but it's clean. I also added some more pics I took today with better lighting.
I got to see this one in person, and it is a beauty. The balance, perfect grinds, fit and finish, all speak to Ray's attention to detail. And the wood looks better in person, too.
