Hey guys, I have been reading some forums about bigfoot encounters and such, and heard that when the subject comes up in hunting forums, such as blind and stand hunters, there are usually many responses of sightings or hearing strange things. I immediatley thought of this forum, as many of you spend a lot of time in the outdoors and maybe could humour my curiosity on a subject I have been quite keen on since I was a small boy.

(I should mention I have never seen anything myself)

Sorry Liam, Bigfoot does not exist, if he did some redneck would have already brought one to town across the hood of his pick up.

My favorite urban myth is the one about the divers that when down next to the damn, you name the lake, and came back up saying they would never go down agoin there were catfish big as a school buses or what have you, down there. Again like Bigfoot, if those fish existed some redneck would catch one, if it took a whole chicken, wire rope, and an electric winch.

Few of us would admit to seeing such a thing. Most of us would say something like "I should mention I have never seen anything myself". As for my own self, when I go places where I am afraid an encounter might occur, I take precautions. Like bringing my friend Larry. You see, Larry has telepathic and sociopathic abilities. He seems to have a primal sixth sense as to when something or someone is "not right".

Codger :D

I myself would love to see one, though maybe not too close.
If it were true that there was no way that a creature like that could exist in our already dwindling forests then we have lost something far more important then a silly man ape. (And no I am not talking about our minds.) :D

In the southeast we call them skunk apes, skank apes, or mudwamps. And when you are 14 years old walking by yourself to a deer stand in the dark after hearing all the old timers the night before talk about what mudwamps have done to other hunters... you BELIEVE!

I can imagine, I was a bit skittish in my apartment hundreds of miles above the treeline, reading some of the eyewitness accounts.
But I suppose the yeti cold come a knockin...hmmmm....

"I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside."

-Mitch Hedberg

Well there were sighting at Malaysia a few years ago the foot prints were 10feet long and 4 inch teeth... no idea how they saw the teeth.

They also say the bigfoot knows your name and want you to guess his, if you get it wrong... it is said you will be eaten...

Night Vision and Thermal Imaging. Still nuttin?
Millions of dollars in fame and fortune, and still nuttin?

I must say until Runningboar drags one into town on his winch I'm a non-believer. (Dang that's gonna leave a heckuvva red streak down the logging road?)

Aliens, same thing. Humans would have nailed one with deer rifle by now.
"We just want to make friends" KAPOW!!!

I know its a long shot, but far from impossible.
I always think of the platypus or the gorilla when i think about it, which are fairly new species, or how long rescuers search for lost hikers that want to be found, when a bigfoot is an intelligent animal with some kickass camoflauge.
But I also think about how many guns are in the US. Maybe its just a matter of time.
I guess it's like a hobby that also happens to be a sort of ghost story for me, the mystery of it and spookiness of it appeals to me.

I guess I'll be the one to go out on a limb and say that one will be found.

Its just a matter of time and the right confluence of events. If there were giant apes in the forest they would have to be in small groups, be hyper reactionary to man and 99% herbivorous. There has been DNA evidence of a primate found in the pacific northwest, as well as scat, in addition to the footprints. I think of it along the same line as the coelecanth fish, the thyalicine and mountain gorillas.
Maybe I just have an open mind about these things, afterall nobody can prove that Jesus came out of that cave, right?
Faith, baby, faith.

Larry says they are real. But then again, Larry the cable guy is his hero. Maybe it is just having the same first name. He also likes Louis Fienberg (aka Larry Fine of the Three Stooges). I was always partial to Moe's brother, Samuel Horwitz (Shemp Howard).

If I recall correctly some people actually constructed multiple Bigfoot traps in the northwestern forests and baited them with deer. The only thing that they caught was a hunter. Apparently, bigfoots (bigfeet?)(if they exist) are smarter than some humans.

I have heard some second/third hand stories that are pretty interesting though.

Enjoy!

Im still tryin yall. Ill get that dern bigfeet.

I used to live in middle Georgia, and a redneck "Trophy Hunter" was hunting one afternoon and he said something "walked up on him" He said it stunk real bad and it also made every hair he had stand on end. He said he has never been that scared before in his life. He also said he does not think he could have raised his gun to get off a shoot had he seen anything to shoot at. Once the smell faded he promptly left. (he never heard it leave) And if I am not mistaken he said he never hunted that area again. My, how big fat balls shrivel up to nothing. The county I live in now (Whatcom) has a law here that makes it a crime to kill a bigfoot. Some of the locals that spend a lot of time in the backcountry here claim they exist, but I have yet to encounter one. My wife hates for me to do it but I sometime leave food scraps outside. You know, just in case.

i have never seen a bigfoot nor have i ever met anyone that has.... however,
as i get older, i fully expect to. now, i have met several who are certainly capable of claiming to have seen one, but like codger's "larry", they might not be the most credible.
on the other hand.... when it comes to "stooges", i consider myself well qualified in this field. while "shemp" was ok in his role as the "idiot stooge" he could not hold a candle to "curly", the ultimate "idiot stooge".
i am quite certain that curly not only saw a bigfoot, but more than likely is the sole reason none are being spotted today. one visit with curly and they moved on to greener pastures.
so, there you have it.... curly is the reason bigfoot is staying out of the limelight these days.
i hope this helps.

I remember a while awhile ago someone said that giant things are not real, no salty crocs over 20ft, no snakes over 20 ft and no such thing as a giant squid.

Hmmmmmm. all these things have been proven false, there is video of it all to boot, a 40ft. Burmese Python, a 27 ft Salty in the Nile and the giant squid has been making the rounds as well.

I am just saying an open mind is a good thing.

Never discount anything. We might have lost our old groth lumber but boy there is so much land around here where you can not navigate by foot blows me away. And that is land that has roads. I live on a mountain here and it is just so hard to get around that I do not explore it alot anymore. And that does not even take into account all the area around Mt. Baker that is classisfied as primitive area, no roads. There has even been cars found along Mt. Baker highway with no occupants. Like they stopped to check the view out but they never found any bodies. Weird.
