Bigfoot?

To pit man,

Like how are they going to get over there? You know with the ferry service and all it would be hard for one to slip through undetected and hitch a ride.;)

I used to be associated with them for quite some time; but due to some internal issues, I no longer belong to this group.

But, there are arguments both ways whether it's real or not. There's always the "someone would have shot one by now..." and the "we would have found a body by now" arguments. A lot of witnesses stated that they have had something in the cross hairs of their rifle but couldn't pull the trigger due to the human characteristics. And out of the millions of deer that live in NA, how many times have you just tripped up on a dead one in the woods?

People probably haven't explored 5% of the North American wilderness, and lots of things could be hiding in there. A new species of cow was discovered in Vietnam recently that was just a myth.

Anyway, I'm not saying there is and I'm not saying there ain't. Just makes it more fun when I go walking in the woods and noticing certain things.

that's a good one...:D

here in california, especially in the northern area's, as well as oregon and washington... there has been a number of bigfoot sightings..... some sound more realistic than others....
i don't recall there ever being any sighting around here, but a guy just recently opened up a bigfoot museum.... travel north from here(101) and you will find all sorts of bigfoot museums, stores and paraphanelia(?)....

i would loove a bigfoot coat or rug...:D :o

Several times a year, 3 so far this year.

So do these bigfeet, if that is the plural, eat their dead to include the bones?

Few of us would admit to seeing such a thing. Most of us would say something like "I should mention I have never seen anything myself". As for my own self, when I go places where I am afraid an encounter might occur, I take precautions. Like bringing my friend Larry. You see, Larry has telepathic and sociopathic abilities. He seems to have a primal sixth sense as to when something or someone is "not right".

Codger :D

"Larry has telepathic and sociopathic abilities"

Your killing me Codger. ROTFLMAO

Aren't they supposed to live in my neck of the woods ?

Not any more. I left the island years ago. Strange noises at night = I make vicious home baked brown beans. Large foot prints = I have size 13 feet and the boots look even larger. Smell = I have been known to be odiferous in the bush, on occasion. I am a rough, tough, cream puff so do not fear a bigfoot at night as he is likely taking care of some gastro intestinal discomfort. ;)

At least locally, it seems that the bigfoot stories began with the fine fellows out in the logging camps, usually after they were out in the woods too long, or after they had just gotten back but before the whiskey had run dry.

I have been prowling all over Oregon for the past 22 years, both hiking and hunting. I have glassed innumerable little valleys, ravines, river banks, treelines, meadows, scrub, and been far off the beaten path. I have seen mountain goats, cougars with and without radio collars, bears, antelope, elk, deer, foxes, beaver, falcons, eagles, quail, turkeys, osprey, kingfishers, and thought I saw a wolverine once, but I am not sure. I have even seen the infamous Northern Spotted Owl.

I have never seen hide, hair, remains, scat, footprints, dens, beds, trash heaps, or any other indicator of an exotic simian species in Oregon. Nor have I heard, smelled, or known of anyone credible who has seen, smelled, or heard anything that would be unclassifiable.

Certainly at some point, somewhere, at some time, someone would have certainly scared something up that was the least bit convincing. Until recently, hunting with dogs was permitted here. In literally 150 years, not one hunter, one trapper, one dog, one logger, one conservationist, one wildlife biologist, one hiker, one climber, one forest service firefighter, nor anyone else, has come up with any bone, rotting corpse, exposed grave, or anything else other than a moderately easy to fake footprint.

I call bulls**t.

runningboar - i agree with the "redneck would have shot one by now theory." There are plenty of 2-legged predators to really worry about in the woods.

I think we should change this thread to a 'fictional' if there was a big foot how would you kill him thread...

I vote 30 '06 - If it will kill a moose it will kill a yeti...i know some of you would prefer a larger caliber - but consider ease of recoil etc. And at least a .44 rem mag "they use that for killing elephants in africa" - Easy Andy (from taxi driver) for backup if I just wound it.

Oh they are real alright. A mother ship landed in South America, taught the Inca a thing or two. Then the ship dumped Nessy in the Loch, Big foot on the coast and had a probe malfunction at Roswell NM. The mother ship did however leave in 1945, taking Hitler with it. These are hard core facts, I swear it!

ok, I've heard this one may times about why dont we find bodies, as in have you ever been walking in the would and found a deer or bear carcus, well I have found a deer carcus, not a bear BUT. Just because you or I havn't, doesnt mean No one has ever found one. And yes we have seen bear and deer for hundreds of years and more. But not once, ONCE has someone shot one and shown it.

Darthstrevel, my answer to your "what would you use to kill a bigfoot?" question is the largest caliber that you can shoot with sufficient precision to place a bullet in the vitals at your expected shooting range + 50% under the expected hunting conditions. I'd want at least a .338 RUM, and someone to stand between me and the buttstock.

Can you get a permit for a bigfoot? If not, then some redneck may have got a bigfoot already, but he isn't telling anyone.

Bagging an authenticated "crypto animal" would make one a wealthy international celebrity in short order. No one has killed a bigfoot and put a lid on it.

Sasquatch, fasquatch - humbug....Bigfoot's nothing compared to the windigo.

When I was a kid, I was scared to death of those things...every little noise in the bush, and I thought it was one of these nasties coming to get me.

The way it was told to me was that if you said the name "windigo", it would hear you call it's name and come out of the dark to get you - scared the living beejezzus out of me....and I barely left the side of the fire.

"Upnorth"...not sure what the Dene' call this thing, but the Cree call it the windigo.

I am willing to believe in pretty much anything, or at least believe pretty much anything is possible.
As for someone showing one, look at this pic.
almasty-full-bw1csj.jpg

Could be fake of course but looks pretty convincing to me.
There are theories that when they are close to death, they build earth covered dens that they crawl into to die, and they collapse over time.
It sounds crazy, but elephants travel hundreds of miles to die in elephant "graveyards" so its not too far fetched.

liam, thats exactly what I mean, Just because we havn't seen it ,doesnt mean it doesnt exist, but it also doesnt mean it does. If in all this time no one has ever shot one, and been on tv, or showen to friends is odd. Deer and bear are seen all over every where. And as for pictures, and everything else There just as close to being fake, as pamalas boobs. Intill someone shoots one, and Has some Big name collage professor look it over and say, THIS IS BIG FOOT, I cant beleive anything I see on the net or tv. Again, every thing I say And same for you, there is always going to be something, that someone made up, Or thinks is true to go against what you or I or anyone thinks, theres always going to be some other part to the storie.

The Cree did not traditionaly believe in hitting their children to discipline them, that came after Euro contact, influence and loss of cultural values. Using analogies of mythical charactors like Windigo, or Wesakechak the trickster was used to verbaly discipline. Much like the Euro boogy man. Be quiet, go to sleep, or the boogy man will get you.

That has also been proven to be a myth, sorry Liam I think bigfoot is about as real as wampus cats and live Elvis. Chris
