BIGGER is better, or not??? What say you??

You know I checked the Kickstarter and it really does seem marketed at the ignorant (I'm not seeing anyone here who likes it, but no offense towards anyone who does). Is it made of tungsten or tungsten carbide or cemented tungsten carbide? "Can only be scratched by diamonds and will never dull!" is obviously wrong either way, but VERY wrong if it's actually made of tungsten metal and not tungsten carbide ceramic or cemented carbide.

Then I check the FAQ and..."The Slash is made from Tungsten Steel, a material so sharp its main use is in aerospace manufacturing"

So is it tungsten metal, tungsten carbide, cemented carbide, or tungsten steel? This kind of imprecise and ambiguous marketing language makes me question the credibility of the entire project. At the very least they are clearly not marketing themselves towards an educated crowd of consumers, and you typically do that when your product just isn't that good.

Its definitely aimed at non knife Knutz for sure!!!!! Techno-speak for the well heeled ignoramus!!!!!! Although some.of their other tools are cool too! But there's something that's a turn off for sure!

Bigger is always better too!

Bigger vs Smaller:

Whatever . . . Use the tool that does the job. If that job is an all-round EDC in a professional urban setting, then Its gotta fit into your pocket and carry easily. If the job is working around a ranch or farm, you might want something sturdier, a blade or tool in a belt pouch. If you are "outside the wire" in an active combat zone, your EDC will likely be even more robust.

Pick the job, then pick the tool.

No thank you. Knives are tools and I see no job Ill do that that would be the right tool.

This 100%

Something my old man once told me sticks in my mind. He said always remember who you are, what you are, and where you are. People have different lifestyles, live in different places. One guy on that ranch may need a large stockman or even a fixed blade. The guy living in the city or a suburb of one, may get by with a SAK classic as his only EDC.

Well, thinking about this pacifically, I always wonder about tungsten's reputation for being brittle. I know there are alloys now, I didn't look into what flavor this is.

I like the concept of small, light, easy to carry cutting tools. Every time I try to apply this concept, I remember that I end up feeling like anything less than 2.75" isn't very practical, and 3.00" is the sweet spot for me.

I am a rtired urbanite traveling aout with a cane, on buses and via Uber. My EDC is a Leatherman Wave carried horizontally in a belt pouch. Ut rides behind my right hip . . .about where many carry a pistol.

It seems to be the right size for me and what I use it for. Interestingly (to me), the second most useful tool seems to be the file!

If they made a bigger model, I would give it a try, just to see how that would work out.

Years ago I swore by an SAK with a few utility tools , Forty years later I don't recall what model. That was back-up to a Buck 110. Back in the 1980s I worked offshore in the Middle East, and a Buck was THE knife to wear on your belt for anyone working in a hard hat.

But since its intrtoduction in the mid 1990s, and a career change, the Leatherman has replaced them both.

Does the file on yours lock? Mine does not. Nor do my scissors. It was modified though - I bought one with an S30V blade.

I do like it but I must say the pocket clip, slightly smaller size and weight, spring pliers, and the Spyderco-like half serrated sheepsfoot, of the Wingman on the rim of my bag and a SAK in the pocket is slightly better for me, though I do want to try to put my Wave to more practical application

I expect a huge, overwhelming demand for that product. As a "team player" here at BF, I will not buy one so that others may purchase one. No need to thank me.

My blades lock, as do the file, saw and scissors. In fact, all the tools loick.

Re weight: The Wave is a lump in the pocket. I carry mine horizontally in a belt pouch, just behind my right hip.
