About 40 miles out in the Gulf. Nothing really big this time though.

Hooked one nice grouper that broke off. Caught and released (cut the leader) about a four-foot shark.

Still, the snapper and grouper will be some nice eating.

That's great. I can't wait to take the family out on a fishing trip. Thanks for sharing these.

Are you going to baton the heads off with an FFBM? :p

Where were you with that idea yesterday? I could have used the new AK. :D

Those fish are already cleaned, vacuum sealed, and frozen.

I took a half-day trip out of Long Beach once that was very inexpensive (like about $50). Folks were catching some nice sea bass, but I didn't have any of the tackle they were using. I just caught a few smaller ones.

Nice catch!

was that a guided trip?

Good question. I have been thinking on trying one of the day trips down here in Dana Point, CA. The man made lakes around here suck. Or at least they used to. And the piers/jetties are way over crowded.

Can't stand pier fishing, though some folks take it to a high art what with all the equipment they roll out there. I used to live down on the Gulf Coast, and I liked to fish jetties much better than I liked the piers. Less people, less tangles, better fishing.

I'm not sure if catching them is more fun, or if eating them is more fun.

Snapper is one that I never release after I catch. ;)

So I say the eating part. Hell I have even bought some snapper before:eek:, when the catching wasn't so good.:grumpy:
