Biggest custom knife regret?

Trading an Onion midtech to a dealer for a MT Ultratech and a little cash - was hoping to build some good will the dealer but I think he just thinks I'm a sucker!

I guess it would have to be a W49 Western Bowie that my dad gave me when I was 12 or 13. He customized the guard and false edge. It was a great knife. Somewhere, somehow it was lost or thrown away on me. I really regret not having it. (for sentimental reasons). It was something from my dad I could have passed down to my son, but it's gone.

Hmmm..., well I can't say I have true regrets, but if I had to point at something regarding "Collecting".., I suppose it would be letting all my old John Nelson Cooper knives slip away. Had about 32-33 at one time I think..., and now (1).. :(

Investment wise.., not a Phi-Beta-Kappa move...lol..., but I got stuff I wanted more.., so it's all good.. :)

I have only been collecting for a little over a year, but when I had only been into knives for a couple of months I went to a pawn shop and saw a big mean hollow-handled sawback survival knife--you know, the kind that is made by a hundred knockoff companies in the far east. I had no idea what the "RP Hendersonville NC" marking meant, so no way was I going to fork over the $35 they were asking!

I came home and did some research, and after picking my jaw up off the floor I called the shop back but they sold it the day before.

I learned that I regret the knives I didn't buy more than the ones I did.

What is that marking?

Biggest regrets-

buying a Steve Corkum mini shobu for $200-terrible knife.

My worst regrets for knives I have sold are my four Randy Lee knives and a custom Rob Simonich Cetan-All wonderful knives, I just needed the money at the time

Is it this specific model (size, etc) or a general comment (quality of construction, value for the price, etc)?

Thanks,

JD

Joss,

The kydex sheath was loose and the blade felt like a large weight, it was far too thick and could not cut well.
