Wow hats off for you too Charlie Mike! Really interesting way to carry a knife, havent seen that yet.

I made that rig... People call it CM Carry.

5.5 inch blade cause that's as large as I can legally carry, and I usually carry it on left hip in a crossdraw sheath with right hand deployment

I have some nice fixed blades that I want to carry but it is hard to get the size right. What I want to do is carry the knife and sheath in my right front pocket. Anything I try to carry on my belt ends up being a problem or getting in my way.

Finding a knife that is big enough to fit my hand but small enough to fit in my pocket is difficult. I feel like a need a knife at least 7" long to fit my hand but those are hard to fit in my pocket. One problem is the sheath- most sheaths add to much bulk to the blade. I've decided that whatever I try to carry seriously will need a custom kydex sheath to minimize its bulk.

In the photos below you can see the knives that I currently have that I consider suitable for EDC. I've also listed the total length of the knife itself and the knife plus sheath. The single kydex sheath in the photo is one that I made to add a minimal amount to the total length. For me to pocket carry I think a knife + sheath needs to be approximately 7".

from top to bottom in the pic-
Byrd knife- 8", knife+sheath 8.5"
Backwoods knife- 7.1", knife+sheath 8"
BRKT Bravo Necker 2 knife- 7", knife+sheath 8.1"
Goldman knife- 6.9", knife+sheath 7.1"
Holly knife- 6.5"

I can't imagine carrying a fixed blade as EDC with an OAL over 6½" and a blade over 3". I've carried folders with 4" blades.
