A couple of answers. These are called buckaroo pouches or folding knife pouches:
The strap back feeds on your belt loop and you drop the whole thing in your pocket. Need your knife, pull on the thong and the whole package comes out of your pocket. Squeeze the bottom and the knife slides into your hand. Leave the pouch dangling while using your knife and all done , back in the pouch and back in your pocket:
Out of the way while you're ear tagging calves:
Or branding:
Then as Joe mentioned there are belt sheaths:
Either one of these solutions will keep your folder from opening in your pocket. Little more soul than an old inner tube too.
