Had him since May 5th 2008. After this tour he goes back to Von Liche kennels and I go back to being reg. Infantryman. Really sucks Ill miss him. http://www.vohneliche.com/index.aspx
Last year they asked for volenteers to be dog handlers on the upcoming deploymeny. I was pick with 13 others. Called the luck dog project. its a beta test project for the penatgon. Idea is to have reg soldiers with dogs without being a MP or a SF type down at the company level. most of us are infantryman but we have others
Man, he looks like a good friend. I love German Shepards. J/K
Malinois are beautiful dogs. I read somewhere that some law enforcement and security groups prefer them even though they are smaller than Shepards. Something about being faster, more agile and bonding better with their partner.
Great looking dog - It sucks you'll have to give him up at the end of the tour. Enjoy the time while you have it.
I did a lot of training with your K9 guys when I was in the Air Force and those Mals bit HARD and with A LOT of energy. It was always the smaller ones to watch out for too. That was some darn fun training!
A buddy of mine got lucky with his dog and was able to keep it when they retired her. It rarely every happens and he had to go through a ton of red tape to do it, but that's a great watch dog to have.
I'll get those mags out to you this week some time.
My neighbor adopted a retired RCMP drug dog. The dog is LOADS of fun at house parties.........he wanders around, sniffs you or another person, then sits beside the person who has the leaf and barks once. More than once an unsuspecting house guest has been "busted"
