Well, that's all. Been a tough year for me. A good year too. I miss them very much, wish I could have had their advice many many times this last year. Perhaps I did.

So here's a thread for your thoughts and own reflections. In 4 or 5 days the anniversary of their passing; Bill on the 28th (?that right?) and Rusty the next day- though actually only a few hours later, on the 29th of March.

I'll remember them forever, as I walk on.

I think of them whenever I remember the tough times I went through a few years back, and how this forum and it's mods and members were there to offer prayers and well wishes when they mattered so very much. One of my posts I made from the hospital computer when my wife was getting ready to go under the knife.

This year has been the most amazing one of my life. More amazing in fact than the years my daughters were born--although those years are special in a way no others could be.

I have made some true friends of the heart(soul friends), and found a mentor. I am so very grateful to have found these people, and through them the way back to my heart--my true self.

I think Bill and Rusty are here and offering the same crusty, yet loving guidance they always did, but in more subtle ways.

I never did get to meet either of them in person. However, I did make it to my first Khonvention last year, where their spirits where alive and well. It surprising how fast a year can pass sometimes.

I miss them.

Also, I just *know* that Bill is laughing at me...

Having to mod both his first home at KF and now this one too...sure...yuck it up Bill! Rusty...quit provoking him...he's bad enough without you cheering him on...

I miss them and will remember them too.
I never met them in person either, but have learnt from them important things about life.
As MauiRob said, they are still guiding us.

I didn't know Rusty well, but I respected him. Bill and I only spoke on the phone once. What an amazing voice he had. We corresponded a little about khukuris, Kismet's Sarge knife, and Ram, but nothing earth shaking. Most of what I know of him came from his posts. He could say more with a few words than I can with a bunch. Here are some of my favorites.

Blessings from the computer shack in Reno.

Can't help.

Always good help.

Thanks for good help.

It's old Uncle Bill back at the screen.

Some beautiful stuff and thanks.

More good help and thanks. The forumites know more than I do.

Great stuff and thanks.

Have a happy.

Grainline is just that and not a crack. Might develop into crack but doubt it. Superglue should fix it if it does.

The dust bunnies are not the least bit interested but I think this is good stuff and thanks.

"We're all brothers and sisters that walk on this planet no matter our race, creed, religion, ignorance, or what."
That's the way we should live our lives and the way we should behave on this forum....

Bruise has a ten pound hammer you might borrow to try to loosen it up.

"Probably because we're all conditioned to want whatever we see on TV."
Especially some of the girls.

Nice stuff and thanks.

Good stuff and thanks.

Always good and expert help around. Thanks.

Mine go under the bed, too, cared for by the infamous dust bunnies.

Hell, you're just a kid.

Interesting stuff and thanks.

Too bad it's only the cajones.

I had fantasies about retiring out as the world's oldest porn star but had to give them up as I hear parts transplanted from elephants do not work well on humans.

That's the way most people did business when I was a kid. I just never grew up.

Many thanks for report from the field.

Beautiful work, Sarge, and thanks for sharing.

That which was lost is found.

Pen, you are a man of many talents.

Good stuff from one of the good guys.

Advice from dust bunnies -- leave everything alone. Nice pix.

Fine, detailed report from the field.

The dust bunnies said they'd take it when you got tired of it.

It's a hell of a world we live in today.

Today's the day that changed our lives forever.

What do I know?

Prayers work.

First things first.

I'll leave the humping to the younger set.

What the hell's wrong with the pictures? Back to the drawing board.

I have this special trail clearing khukuri........
I have this special Hanshee........
I have this special villager……..

Brendan, you won't like it

Can't find a thing wrong with it, but Yangdu says it's a blem, so it is.

Five minutes worth of rust removal saves you $100.

Good for a hundred years.

Thirty cents a day and all the rice you can eat.

No thanks to the Nepali shipping staff.

The kamis probably used it to fire the forge.

Sorry. GTT = gone to Texas.

Debt is good.

One more time -- debt is good.

Can't remember that far back.

The dust bunnies are experts.

Holy Toledo!

It looks like the Caveman is back full force.
Your problem is you like everything -- even one legged dancing girls - and once in a great while even me.

Remember, many times what we view as a curse in the present turns out to be a blessing in the future. Don't worry about it a lot. Things have a way of working out. Trust me on this one.

It may take me out but I'll be damned if I'm going to let it scare me. Just pass the Camels, Heineken and the morphine and I'll be fine.
Just live the adventure with me and try to benefit in some way from it.
What has this to do with khukuris? Everything!"

All gone. Stay tuned.

If it weren't for them, this place wouldn't exist.

We are so lucky that it does.

I never knew of them before I stumbled across HI, But, they will always have my respect for who they were and what they've accomplished. And if I havent said it before, I will now, Thank you Yangdu. You are a kind and sweet soul, and doing business with you is a joy.

And even more of an honor to work with you...as well as the rest of the good guys.

I think of Uncle Bill very often. Every time Yangdu posts here I think of him too. He formed the spirit of this forum. His kindness influenced everybody here, I am pretty sure. I like it here.

Just after Uncle Bill passing Rusty was gone as well. I remember The shock even after a year.

Thank you!

I came to the forum too late, after Bill and Rusty had passed, but I know them through the hearts and spirits of their many friends where they live on as surely as if you could reach out and touch them.

I miss them, but we will meet again.

I miss both of them .. Uncle Bill is the 1st man to bring me to the world of Khukuri .. I still have few Khuks send to me as his gifts on different occassions .. while Rusty send me a JKM as his gift!

Rusty was a gift giving fool with a heart of gold. Bill was good and I think in later years, went, like the Cohen song, 'clear'. Howard Wallace reminded me of this recently, and with due respect to my bad memory, I cannot recall publically or privately or both: but he was right: I'd send Bill Martino an email with several sentences in it. There were many possibilities branching out of those sentences. I didn't know how else to do it. The Old Man would write back a single line; a word, a couple words, and punch right to the heart of the thing needing to be understood.

I'd write a paragraph; the Old Man would write a sentence. See?
So I started cutting back even more. I'd always been good at slicing words out of the air when they got in the way. When I wrote to Bill I tried to be succinct. But I didn't have his experience, and he had 20 years on me. Good man.

Bill had warned us but Rusty going just wasn't right.

Can't believe its only one year. Seems like forever.
