I just wanted to take a moment to admire this guy's work.
I have a dream to one day make a knife exactly according to my idea of the perfect Bowie knife. I'm just afraid it will only turn out into a vastly inferior knockoff of the Bagwell Bowie, because I really have a hard time thinking of anything that I'd like to change about the design right here. Just excellent..

Yes Mr, Bagwell's Bowies are amazing. I've said it before and will say it again- I hope he is teaching somebody his art.

He is the "Hittori Hanzo" of bowie knives

According to Sifu James Keating.. have to agree.

Man who is the lucky SOB that owns that knife :)

There is only one Bill Bagwell

Bill does them like nobody else. My HB is a family heirloom..and a user as well.

Thank the Lord for that!(I kid, I kid....Bill is a fine and trailblazing 'Smith and contributes much to the bowie world in terms of output and method).

Best Regards,

I just love bowie knives. I looked at the picture of Mr. Bagwell's bowie and I was wondering what makes it look so pleasing to one's eye?
I became so interested that I actually took a tape measure and measured the knife in the picture. While not to scale the handle to guard is 2'7/8, from the front of the guard to the back part of the top clip grind is also 2'7/8 from the back of the top clip grind to the point of the blade is also 2'7/8.

Kind a reminds me of 36-24-36.

When I looked at the material it classic, stag handle, Damascus blade with nice pattern to catch the eye but not over the top like some which are to busy.

That particular Bagwell HB is a real standout piece

I remember fondly how he didn't want to make a Stag HB

That knife still is one of the most prized of my collection but there is one other Bagwell that I have that is a real standout piece

The Alamo Bowie

This is the knife I pictire in the book Blood Metidian

Another sweet piece Joe. Strange thing is, I like it the least out of your three stag Bagwells, even though it's the "fanciest" one. My favorites, in order, are the one in the OP, your knife with simple brass guard, and the one directly above.

There is something special about the bowie first posted. It's timeless and proportioned beautifully.
It's definitely my favorite stag Bagwell and one of my favorite bowies anywhere.

Bill BAGWELL is a great knife maker. Definitely one of the one I love most in the world for a very long time .

Old thread, but several here started much earlier.

Personally am partial to the plainer working grade knife. Nice and clean. No showboating. A knife for people who actually use them rather than something for the trophy wall. But, to each their own, even if that is dozens.

Bonjour la France. Je suis a New York.
