I don't know how many of you read Bill Heavey's hunting/fishing column in Field & Stream, but it's usually the first thing I read when I get the magazine--not for its "How-To Know How," but rather for the comedic moments and the poignant looks at life that Heavey usually offers up.
Somehow, Heavey has managed to persuade a book company to pay him to live off the land for a year and write about the endeavor.
Here's Dave Petzal giving Bill Heavey some ribbing about it: http://fieldandstream.blogs.com/gunnut/2008/05/another-shabby.html
And here's the weblog for Heavey's project: http://www.fieldandstream.blogs.com/sportsmanslife/
Should be interesting to follow, especially if Heavey approaches it with his usual flair for hyperbole and irony. Seems he's off to a good start.
