Just read on the KF"s that Bill Moran passed away this a.m. early from complications of colon cancer. Keepem sharp Bill, happy trails....

Sorry to hear this. What a great contribution he has made to the knife-making world.

Walkabout

A great knifemaker and a great gentleman. I saw him at Blade a few years ago, playing with a sword at the Atlanta Cutlery booth. He was having as much fun as any kid with a new toy. :D

I'm glad I took the time to go to his presentation at Bladeshow last year.

He certainly made quite a contribution to the custom knife world.

my heart has sank....

Got to spend time with Bill in his shop while living in MD...

Their plan was to turn it into a museum after he passed on...thought that day would be down the road quite a bit...

I'm just shocked...

End of a legacy, indeed. :(

Our community has lost one of the giants.

Thank-you Bill Moran for the gifts you have given the knife world.

A legend has passed.

Praying for his family.

Bill Moran - Father of American Bladesmithing and re-discoverer of Damascus steel - a real legend
- will be very sadly missed -

The first person I try to take a photo of at every Blade Show was Bill -
he was always so friendly, helpful and a real gentleman.

At the last Blade Show 2005 and cutting demonstration -
