Bill Moran

His work, characterized by being a bit rough. Not perfect. His steel of reknown was damascus--an unlikely mix of different materials. His affecting spirit was hewn of giving, sharing, and humility.

This symbolism is how Bill represents a slice of humanity, as we aspire to it.

It is no wonder he is and will be the most outstanding icon in modern knifemaking.

Rest in Peace.

A true icon in the knifemaking community and a fine gentleman. Though there will always be sadness at such a loss, there should also be celebration of all he accomplished. He will most certainly be missed.

RIP Bill. As great as he was as a maker, he was greater still in sharing his knowledge. I am glad that I had the privilege to meet him. Jim Treacy

I never had the pleasure of meeting him but there is no doubt in my mind he was a great man. May god protect him in this sad time.

:(

A nice man, good teacher. I'm very sorry to hear this. My condolences to the family and the knifemaking world. Lin

My respects. It´s sad, but as said above, expected. In Brazil we knew his lifetime work and praise his legacy.

Rest In Peace Bill Moran.

Wow! Very sad news. Bill was my favorite knifemaker. I have the honor of owning several of his knives and of having been able to visit him in his shop. His craftsmanship was unparelleled, but most important of all, he was kind and patient to all who met him, and always willing to share his knowledge. He'll be sorely missed.

I'm sorry to hear about Bill, He was a super person and very gracious to share his wisdom with the knife making world. Another great gone home.

In bit of irony, I just heard that Bill past away on Feb 12th--the birthday of William Scagel.

Remarkable.
