Bill & Yangdu in SF

Is it just me, or does Uncle Bill have a little mishievous look on his face in the last pic?:D To me that is always a good sign that things are on the up and up. And seeing Yangdu there with him, it left me re-assured that no matter how things go, he will always have her support. Great pics and thanks JP.

Thanks for posting, John. You all look to be in good spirits, and that's always a good sign. :)
And that's quite a collection!

John,
Many thanks for posting the pics. Bill does look better, and he and Yangdu are a great-looking couple. Would love to have been a fly on the wall listening to their comments about your collection.

wow! uncle and yangdu DO look great!

thats an amazing collection you have there, john!

Must admit I wonder what was on the menu JP ? Something rather good I suspect! ;) you look like you all enjoyed a good meal & a drink. ;) :)

Many thanks for kepping us up to date, JP. The pictures of Uncle and Yangdu and yourself make me feel much better, also. Bless you for that kindness.

Forget about the khuks... I just want to know how you're hanging them from the wall with no visible means of support. :) I can see tiny clips for some, but in the photo where you say, "Do I look nervous?", what's holding those sheaths onto the wall?

Chris,
Here is a close-up of the Indian MK III that is hanging above the left side
of my fabulous full head of hair. Black 28 gauge wire wrapped twice around the scabbard and a white plastic washer secured in two places does the trick.

John, just out of curiosity... Assuming you have no "new arrivals" or maintainance tasks to perform on your knives, just how many khukuries do you unsheath every day? I'd go nuts living in a house with wall to wall treasures! What's your address? :D

Dan :)

Everybody looks pretty good to me.

As I understand it, after this week Uncle should likely look even better. At least that is the idea and I hope and believe that's what will happen.

And yes, I confess that I envy even a tiny part of the khuk collection and the full head of hair. Uncle has a lot left too.

c'mon JP let's have a recipe.

Great visit. John displayed his usual hospitality and went to great lengths to try to show some us of his finer pieces. If you haven't figured it out by now John has probably the best collection in the USA -- some really unique and excellent pieces. And, yes, I'm the guy who got him started on it all.

Where in the world does he find such unique artifacts? Does he have a secret connection or something? You can't get that kind of stuff on e-bay.... am I right?

Fantastic John. Beautiful collection, and thanks for the great shots of Uncle Bill and Yangdu.

I am close enough to you that I hope some day to meet you personally and slobber over your wonderful knives. I'll have to be outfitted with a bib and gloves though so I don't make a mess! :)

Just curious: how many years have you been collecting, and where in the world do you come up with these? I suspect that you must travel both to England and Nepal to find some of these treasures. (?) Ironically, I'll bet the English have more of these antique blades than the Nepalese do at this point. ?

Thanks again and regards,

Norm

Showing my collection is always a pleasure. It's just real difficult for visitors to get through a complete background check, vetting, letters from psychiatrists and other medical teams plus just getting past security.

My travels have garnered many interesting kukris and I use the same sources available to anyone. I just look harder and longer. Ebay used to be a terrific source and still offers up some surprises.
