I've heard we get them that big here in North America also, but I haven't seen one personally. We were vacationing at an extensive lake in Virginia and went to the main dam for a tour. The dam tour guide said that the lake was 330' deep at the dam and that they had to send divers down to periodically do some kind of visual inspections. They said that at one time the divers wanted to go down in cages because of the enormous catfish that they had seen in the deep parts of the lake. Maybe she was just pulling my leg, I can be gullible sometimes.
What a cool place the net is... From my fornt porch I can lob arrows from a stick bow into Smith Mtn. Lake. I live on the Bedford County side in Goodview. I used to roam the water as a teen but haven't been in it in years.
