Billet Titanium Buck 110

Hi Jared, You can save a little time and effort by drilling and tapping the right hand scale with four #5X40 female threads and drilling clearance holes (.125") in the left hand scale. No Helicoil should be necessary in holes that deep. If you use socket head bolts, a #5X40 counterbore will help get the heads flush with the handle.
Where do you obtain #5X40TPI Titanium screws?

I thought about that, but liked the idea of Helicoils, as I'm pretty sure they are harder than the Ti. Further thinking led to me liking the idea of symmetry between the halves, and this is why I ended up using the 2-56 Titanium screws with a stainless barrel nut style pivot

Jared,

Massive kudos.

I truly hope Buck is watching and taking notes.

Buck has some iconic designs, none more so than the 110. As beautiful as the classic 110 is, it needs to be reimagined and reinterpretted for today's market.

That is absolutely the most beautiful looking 110 I've ever seen. It's really a perfect blend of modern and traditional.

I would strongly encourage you repost this in the Traditional forum. It meets the guidelines (no thumbstuds and no clips) and other custom maker have posted similar modern interpretations of traditional designs.

More people should see this (and really, Buck should take a clue on how to leverage their icons better).

I have always been a fan of old styling with new technology.

I will take you up on your advice and post there. I've not really strayed much from my Hosted Knifemaker Forum and the Buck Knives forum.

I can see why something like this would not be mass produced, because it is ridiculously expensive to work with. The cost of consumables in this project was much more than expected.

Thanks for good feedback everyone!
