Number 2 of 2, of the experimental test direct-fused bimetallic titanium alloy sword blades.

The blade body is ti alloy 6-2-4-2, with an edge of VT23 alloy melted directly into the edge, then forged, then heat treated for blade use.

Guard spacer and ring pommel are 6al4v, guard and ornament are VT23.

The blade is 29" in length, and tapers in thickness to a needle point. Hilt is 11.5" for an OAL of 40.5". I estimate the weight at about 1.3 lbs (no scale at the moment).

The 9.25" grip is made of neoprene, nylon, and leather. The entire sword flexes from point to pommel, with resonance nodes about 10" back from the tip, and right in the forward handgrip position.

The sword incorporates details seen in a very old Chinese dao photograph in a book, one of my favorites, such as ripples on the spine around the sweet spot for cutting, and a large ring pommel. The dimensions of the sword are almost identical to the one in the book, with the main differences being the titanium alloy construction, and the guard shape. The one in the book had a large S-guard.
