I just bought the 8x30 Tank Commander Binocular from Sovietski Collection. They were made for Russia Tank Commanders. They are a copy of Germany's Carl Zeiss-Jena Binoculars. They only cost $99 and are the best binoculars I have ever used. Now granted I have not used the really goods ones before. They cost upwards of $1000, But I have used a lot of tasco's, Brushnels and others in the $20-$250 range and Like I said these are the best by far. I would like to compare them to the really expensive ones to see how they stack up, but I bet they would hold there own with them.
Here is the address if anybody want s to look

I've got a pair of Russian-made binoculars myself, 8 x 50. The lens are made by Zeiss in what used to be the East German factory that supplied the Russian military. The optical quality is several times better than my old cheapo Busnells, and the price was about $100 CAN (or $65 US to you Yanks). They aren't as smooth as the Leicas or Leopolds or Swarovsky biut the optics are darned good and the price was hard to beat.

Hoodoo I got a better idea. You send me yours and I will test them. ;D
Oh by the way does anybody know the what each mark on the ranger finder is? I figure it is calibrated for tanks, but I sure would to know how to use it. If anybody knows HELP

Didn't the Russians use some odd unit of measure on there old rifle sights?

I imagine the scale is metric or degrees of angle. Maybe you can figure it out if you play with it at known distances.

Good luck,

Mike

Why don't you try figuring it out yourself. Take an 8 ft 2x4 and put it out there at 50-100 yds. Mark the length off in 2 ft increments on the board. You should be able to calibrate the finder, since you know distance and the size of the object.

Ok I guess I will figure it out myself. I just thought that if anybody knows. Cause I bet the way it is set up yu have to know what each mark is AND what size object they are cal. for. Trying to figure out both unknows will be hard to do, unless Iam missing something. But Thanks for the Ideas I will try them.
