Bird and trout / Small game knife

[Del Raso Knives]

Just finished this Bird and Trout and wanted to show it. OAL 7 1/4" X 3 1/4" blade (to front of guard)

Blade is Sandvik 12c27, hollow ground, full tapered tang and 800gt hand satin finish.

Scales are Samba with red fibre liners.

Guard is 416 stainless. Pins and lanyard tube are 300 series stainless.

The last pic shows it grouped with a semi-skinner Hunter and a utility Hunter. Any and all comments welcome, hope you like it.

I only solder Loveless reproductions. On my own knives I start with a firm fit and then pein all my joints.

I still remember 4-5 yrs ago when i first started out Pete telling me" If ya gonna taper a tang, then taper it". Certainly makes them feel good as well as look good. Very nice Pete.

Thanks and glad you like it John. My advice to your student re tapers would be to finish them off on a disk grinder. Only way I have found to get them truly flat.

All 3 are beautiful examples of your work Peter. I think being a "forged blades with dropped edges guy", my eye gravitates toward the bird and trout the most... but all 3 are fantastic.
