Bird n trouts or small utility knives, show please

I like this thread a lot. Bird & Trout can be viewed in many ways, but I see it as a lightweight thin bladed prep knife that you can take with you anywhere. Also, it should look good!

Will, I agree and a goodlooking knife also often perform its duty's well.

It's impossible not to like a Phil Wilson knife and I hope to get one someday.
In the meantime I use what I have.

Two interpretations: An A G Russell and a Gerber Pixie
For about ten years, I had the AG Russell Woodswalker like yours on the left. It now resides with a friend in NW Washington. It's a good bird knife but falls short for trout/fish.

The Pixie gets the lions share of work on the 13-16" trout in the little streams I fish. The Woodswalker is more of a paring knife.

Yep. Bought from Leichtung catlogue in 1983. First real knife I ever bought. It's been on all my travels in Europe and North America. I have another unused/unsharpened just for the collection.

Zieg Great taste, and lucky you having a back-up collectible. Even though I am in Finland, you can't find those Wirkkala knives anymore :grumpy: most were exported to N.America I believe.

Queen Cutlery does a neat B&T type knife in D2 in their Amber Carved Bone Stag scales. Pattern No.73.

They still appear on eBay for around $150 to $200, but I am about to retire it in favor of a classic puukko design by Malanika, bought here on BFC (http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1350300-Puukko). The edge on this Wirkkala knife just isn't holding up to the work I'm putting it through. After years of use with a moderately sharp blade, I had a smith in the Seattle area work on the edge in 1998. It has had a straight-razor profile since then and will cut your eyeball just looking at it. But you can imagine how delicate the edge is now. I can steel and strop it back to perfection, and it can handle soft evergreen wood without too much damage, but the last time I opened up a rabbit, I hit a bone and it didn't feel robust enough. There will always be the risk of rolling or warping the edge. I'll see whether I can get some decent pics. Maybe it's time for a thread just on this knife.

When the Malanika knife shows up, I'll post it in this thread. I promised Danijel a review, too. Means I get to take a few rabbits to put it through its paces! Rabbits, root vegetables, and red wine.

My bird and trout. It was my first gaw win, and I've thoroughly used and enjoyed it. Not called a bird and trout by Mr. Culberson, the maker, but that's pretty much how I use it.
 
Cool, that JK is knife is nice. Base in the response to this thread, I was wondering if I do a thread on my Hudson Bay knives. Keep the b n t coming.
