Any suggestions for a great Bird & Trout fixed Blade knife?

Customs and production?

Preferably not to have a six month wait.....

Thanks All!

I have 2 on my "to buy" list the Spyderco Sprig and the smaller thinner Bark River Bird and Trout in Elmax

I have the Bird and Trout in Elmax. Thin blade that's screaming sharp. I'd recommend one.

Go look in the knife makers for sell forum.
The makers here produce some great pieces at reasonable prices.

North Arm Knives has posted a bird n trout in the seller's forum that seems like a great value. They call it the Mallard. S35vn with g10 scales at a great price. Been meaning to pick one up and give it a try.

Moore maker small game hunter. Mine works great on fish and game and for cooking chores when camping.

Your typical folder works very well for bird and trout. Probably cleaned 300 fish and a pile of other animals with a kershaw 1720cb.

Save yourself some money and get a USA made Hess Bird and Trout. The burl they use on their handles is outstanding!

I would recommend any of the smaller knives from JK knives, 01 excellent heat treat, and he makes a Bird and trout. I will try and post what mine looks like. In addition, I have felt that any of the knives from DW Childress would also make a good one, many steels and beautiful handles. I also think the LT Wright Coyote would make a good one too.

IMG_0175.jpg. The top one is the JK, the middle one is the LT Wright, and the bottom two are from DW Childress in D2 and 440C.

To add to the other good suggestions I would encourage you to contact Jack ONeill. You can see some of his listings here on the knife makers exchange (go to the link provided by JR88FAN in post # 10 above). He might not be listing one but he could very well have one ready to go.

Good luck.

Grohmann #2.

I would recommend James Behring Jr. out of Missoula, MT. He does an excellent job, here is my B & T in O1, Sambar stag and Musk Ox, soldered guard.

Thanks for the recommendation Ray.

I have been eyeing the White River Knives scout. While not marketed as a bird and trout, I think it would excel at it.
