Birch block 3.1 ounce. 3 ½ inches long x 2 wide x 1 inch thick. Dyed and stabilized. Has some birds eye pattern and tight grain knarly pattern throughout. Very solid, no cracks or soft spots. This should be an especially tough piece that will hold up well to use. $30

Birds eye Alaska river birch block 3.5 ounces. 5 inches long x 1x1. Dyed and stabilized. Very nice patterns and sheen. Sight natural damage on one end where there is bark, but has been stabilized and could be part of a project. This is a good piece to turn on a lathe maybe pen project. $35

These are a few of my latest blocks just added to the web site. Best way to buy is off the web site using pay pal, or inquire.http://milesofalaska.net/wood/default.htmlhttp://milesofalaska.net/wood/default.html
I find my own wood, cut it, dry it a year, dye, stabilize. I encourage others who are interested, to try it. The more we do ourselves on a knife, the more it is our work. But wait! Shouldn't I encourage you to buy?! Hope you enjoy looking at what I come up with anyhow!

If interested review my web site. I have a variety of wood in different price ranges and varying levels of add on value. Some will be stabilized and not dyed. Some wood is just raw precut blocks. I can offer an entire tree, free! Just come to Alaska, charter a boat and I'll point it out the trees you may select from (grin). Link to the raw shownhttp://milesofalaska.net/wood/bargain__wood.html is at bottom of this page.

On my web page I have this wood stabilized and not dyed. If not stabilized, I find this wood to be undependable. Sometimes weak, tendency to crack, to soft to take polish, shrinks, and such issues. I can offer this birds eye or most of my woods in any form a knife maker wants. If anyone wants this raw off the tree, or plain blocks. I'm doing what I hope is 'add on value' by dyeing and treating, for those not set up to do so, or prefer not to. This birch if natural, could be sealed after handle is made as an alternative to the treatment I give it. Or bought raw from me and sent out elsewhere to be treated. Those interested in options can email me. I may take time to add a picture here of some plain wood.

Your skills are getting much better, Miles. Nice stuff and you must be refining the process.....keep it up!

I just added pictures of some birds eye birch in the raw for those interested. I do not have any at the moment that are blocks , treated but not dyed. I've just been having so much fun experimenting and fooling with the dye! I stop and go "Huh?" One track minded at the moment. Yea sure cool ok, lets look at some other options.
