In order to satisfy registration requirements of HMG in Nepal our khukuri shop had to have a name. Gelbu elected to call the shop NOT Himalayan Imports Shop no. 2 which means very little in Nepal but opted for BIRGORKHA which means a lot -- Brave Gorkha.

So, the name of the company is Himalayan Imports. The name of our shop is Brave Gorkha.

Gelbu has the shop expansion near completion and has hired more kamis. We should be catching up soon. Two shipments are in the air. Sarkis are falling behind on scabbards so more sarkis are on the agenda. We will soon have more than 20 employees.

Gelbu is having second thoughts about the wristwatches. He tells me that Bura spends a lot of time showing his watch to visitors and telling them what fine and generous customers we have in America. Gelbu says when all the kamis get their watches he is afraid we will fall farther behind.

No good deed goes unpunished!

And poor old Ganga Ram lost the help of his nephew who had to return home to take care of his farm for awhile so it is slow going for that 80 year old master kami. But he will get the job completed -- when we are not sure.

Growing pains!

BIRGHORKA has a nice ring to it.

Uncle Bill, it's good to know that the business is strong and growing stronger. Success couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

So when are you going to start thinking about opening shop number three? Just kidding.

It is light or dark;what more do you need? The sun is due south here at noon.Other than that?

Perfect. Bura stays as foreman, new kamis will adapt to HI ways faster, the wonderful funky wiring into three seperate power grids is retained, it's perfect.

Were you guys able to score more power tools?

Jim

We are okay on power tools at the present. They are readily available when needed. Pala recently sent some accessories (abrasive discs, grinders of various grit, high quality drills, extra length, etc.) back to Nepal which are unavailable there. And, Gelbu bought a computer and is on line.

We had four forges and needed a couple more along with more working space and now we have both.

Just got email from Gelbu this AM. Ganga Ram's nephew has returned from his farm and he and Ganga are making some progress on the Ganga Ram Specials. We should be seeing four or five in a couple of weeks. The Millennium Special is in the works -- pounding steel. Four or five of the smaller version Banspatis are complete and will hit the air this week. Kumar is working on his Kobras. Kesar and Mama are busy on our standard items and making good headway. The new kamis were given the kagas katne project and will have 50 or 60 ready in a week or ten days. We are making headway.
