Birth of a Sub-Hilt Sword

Finally have been working on this piece, still have a little handle shaping and A LOT of finish work to do but it's almost there! 5160 blade (20" tip to guard / 26" tip to butt), copper collar and butt cap, Ti guard(s), stabilized curly Koa handle. Let me know what you think!

Thanks! This piece actually came off eBay because of the size requirements. My initial want was for some ebony / blackwood but I couldn't find any large enough without buying a huge block from Woodcraft so I "settled" for this one.

I may well have the largest Koa stash outside of the Big Island

Thanks! I was going to different, soooooo..... I'm a little ticked though, I ran out of 800 grit and above about halfway through and buffed it out. Have some stray scatches but oh well

Balance point is just forward of the guard, maybe 1 1/2" or so. I like the feel of it, just wish I had gotten all the scratches out. Now I know why I like a nice 400 or 600 grit finish
