Hi all well as I said in my B-day post a couple of days back.
I started to make my own bush craft type of knife. I made
mine with 0-1 steel it has a 4" long spear point 1/8" thick
by 1" wide. The handle is 4.5" long. It has a curvy bottom
and has kind of tan coloring micarta scales with white
liners of course. They make a knife look so cool I think.
I put two solid 1/4" brass pins in and for the landyard hole
I used 1/4" brass tubing.I have not made a sheath yet but
when it is done I will show it too.
I plan to use this knife around the camp and in the kitchen
mainly.
Here are some pics.

Well I hope you enjoyed the pics.

very nice looking knife.

i am strangely drawn to the very straight back for some inexplicable reason...generally i draw up knives with a very smooth curve along the whole back...but that looks like it is really comfy somehow...

Now, THAT is amazing!
It looks exactly like my third "Breeden!"

I LOVE "Bushcrafty" and I LOVE "uncomplicated."
I also happen to love that color of Micarta with white liners and brass pins.:D

it's like if a Gossman PSK Sr and Koster Bushcrafter had babies....

Anyway, it's a really nice knife man. I love the lines and the handle looks nice and comfy.

Nice job,
brett

You're right, Brett! I couldn't put my finger on it but the tip is kind of "Kephart-ish" and I dismissed my sense of "knowing this knife" because of that. I do like it though.

Hi all I just reallylike the spear point look over the look of the Ray Mears
woodlore bush craft knife type. To pointed for me I guess that is why I
have not done any up like that for me any ways. The handle is from what
a customer wanted on his type of Keely knife that I make up. After I
made his knife up handled it I thought yep this is a really comfy handle
so I chose to make up one with that handle and a spear point so far
I really like the way it feels. I have made up another in orange G-10
for its handle for another blade forum member. That little bit of curve
on the bottom just comfy to me.

Thanks for the comments on it I do not know if it is a cross between this or that but I sure like it. It is not going to be a my main carry I like my
orange handle Pathfinder to much for the every day carry. But this will do for
around the camp fire and in the kitchen LOL

Take care all,

Bryan

I hope I didn't offend you by saying it was a cross. I guess it just reminds me of both.
I really do like your design. It's sleek, functional and very well done.

Take care,
Brett

That's another very nice knife, Bryan. Simple and functional. If it were my knife, it would have more of a drop point profile than a spear point, but either way it'll work just fine. The handle, though, looks excellent. Should be very comfortable.

How wide is the blade? Seems like the blade is the widest par of the knife with the handle being just as wide in the palm swell...

I have been working in a knife (I plano to finish it this very same weekend) I made out of a 250 x 63 x 5mm leaf spring. I want to do a few more and I feel like making a single knife out of such a piece of metal is a waste of material. I am trying to figure out if I can craft two blades like yours out of a 63mm wide piece of metal.

Don't worry, it is not going to come out as beautiful as yours... plus I only have blue canvas micarta at the time (and I will keep having it untill I run out of old jeans... lol).

Mikel

PD: What do you think I could use as liners? Is it bought as it is or do you make it yourself? I guess this question needs a whole new thread in the knifemakers forum.

That looks great. I really like the spear point too, and your tan micarta with the white spacers really looks nice.

Hi all yea Brett do not worry i am not affended:D LOL .

Ever since that Spooky guy LOL asked if I would make him a Kelly knife
with at spear point I made up 3 right after that for me:eek: I really like
that shape of point for the kitchen it is a mini spatula :D I then made
my bushcraft type knife with that shape to and really do like it over the
drop point or the clip point too.

I really like the white spacers too tknife they really add to the over all
look of the knife.

Mikel 24 the blade is one inch wide and 4" long by 1/8' thick.
Mike have faith in your self about making your knives. My knives are
not the best or the prettyest. But to me they are some thing I have
made and that puts a grin on my face every time I enter the shop or
even think about it. It is fun to do. I buy the white liners from Jantz
knife supply.

Rocketbomb the tip is just abouve the center line I was talking to Jeff H
and he said he like d that better than having the point on the center line
and so I thought I woulf try that too so far so good. the handle is very comfy.

chat with you all later,

Bryan

.....My knives are not the best or the prettyest..............Bryan

I would have said that your knives "posses character and charm." I have to admit though, that the way you put it characterizes your humility and that character shows in your knives. Hearing you put it in your words is like handling one of your knives and observing the marks that indicate the handwork that went into it. They are an honest interpretation and have a "homespun" aesthetic. As you get "better" (your words, not mine) this may begin to fade and I will miss it.

Very nicely said Jeff! I was thinking on similar lines but your word smithing is much more elegant. Ragarding those Breedens, lets just say I'm far to ugly to have to see myself in a mirror polished blade :) :)

I like the way you are in almost constant communication with those of us who have knives on order with you, Bryan.

Guys, IMHO, Bryan is exactly the kind of maker you want to buy from, open, honest, helpful, a terrific guy in this silly world of shady deals and ridiculous prices.
