Today is my 52nd birthday, and this is my 1000th post on BF. I was a lurker here for years before I finally created an account a couple of years ago and start participating. I noticed that my birthday and four-digit post count would line up yesterday, so decided it was time to do a giveaway. I'll be giving away a brand-new Victorinix Alox MiniChamp. (Picture is of mine - the actual MiniChamp for the GAW is in an unopened box.)

To be eligible to enter, you must be a paid member of BF, and have at least 100 posts on The Porch, and it must be legal for me to ship this to your country. To enter, tell us about your favorite birthday - best gift or most surprising party or a good family tradition or anything else. I'll randomly select a winner next Wednesday (3/22/2023). Good luck!

Happy birthday!
I am tempted... a keying knife that the blade opens opposite of the keyring 😍😍

But birthdays haven't always been great since mine is soooo close to Christmas
But one tradition we had was my father always called and sang happy birthday to us over the phone (badly lol)
And now he is gone and that tradition is over :/

My Mom and Dad always call and sing it badly too. Glad you have that memory. (My best friend's birthday is December 26, so he has often been a little shortchanged on the birthday celebration front, too.)

Thanks for playing along.

Having just won an alox SAK in a recent GAW, I'm not in this time, but I love to participate.

My favorite birthday memory is one year when my ex planned a pretty elaborate surprise birthday. I had been very sad leading up to my birthday because _ALL_ of my friends said that they were busy with various preexisting obligations or out of town for my birthday. A week or so before my birthday my best friend let me know that he had tickets for us to listen to Sir Terry Pratchett give a talk at UW. I was happy that we would at least be doing something for my birthday. Toward the end of the talk I started to have some gastrointestinal distress, and we rushed back to my friend's nearby place. As we were walking up to the door my friend asked what I wanted to do with the rest of the evening, as he opened the door I loudly said "right now I don't care, I just need a bathroom or else I am going to **** my pants!" So I started rushing up the stairs to his bathroom and as I came into the living room _ALL_ of my friends were there to surprise me. It was a great surprise but I still had to rush through the room and then everyone had to wait a while before I could come back out. It was a memorable night.

I'm in. I was 52 earlier this year. I'm lucky I get to pick a knife I want for my birthday.
My birthday is so special I get a public holiday😄. My birthday is Australia day.
My eldest was born on the same day as my Dad . My youngest turns 17 on St Patricks Day.
The only cake acceptable on my birthday is an ice cream cake! Been the tradition all my life.
Thanks for the GAW.

I like alox SAKs so I am in.

I havent celebrated a birthday since 1897 not a misprint I really am that old. 😁

I do remember when I was very small my mum made everything kids like for a birthday party.

You know jelly, ice cream, sandwiches without the horrid crusts, bowls of peanuts, crisps etc.,fizzy pop, chocolate biscuits, iced birthday cake and much much more.

Everything that would give you wind and leave you feeling sick but happy  😁

So one of the kids up the street was also invited,in them days no one was left out.

He came in walked around the table eying everything up turned around and said "theres nothing there I like" and walked out and went home 🤣🤣🤣

Many Happy Returns Tyson, and congratulations on the milestone 🙂 I hope you have great birthday 🎂😊👍

Happy Birthday Tyson!
Not an entry, but very generous of you.
I would have to say it was about the same bike as Boattale Boattale back in 68 or 69'. Red with sissy bar & banana seat. Had a black seat though.
Yes on the sissy bar! Mine was in 1964. And it was a big deal. Our family was not well to do.
