Since it wouldn't be fair to give one of you a birthday gift and not the rest, its time for another give-away.

Since I don't know when your birthday is, I'll close this one up on my birthday (5/21) and pick a winner.

Entry rules:
Open to US and Canada.
Post early - Post often.
If the gift does not suit you, offer it up in another give-away so someone else has a chance to try it out.

What you need to do to qualify:
Make me something to eat. :p

We've done knives, birds, green, etc. Post a pic of something you've cooked or prepared. Cooked outside would be preferred but if all you got is a pic of a PB&J or the ham from Easter, that'll do.

The pic that inspires me to run to the kitchen most will be our winner so make 'em look good. If there's more than one, I'll get my wife to help chose. Maybe Daisy if it gets too difficult ;).

The birthday gift:

A David Farmer knife!

This was part of a giveaway that Siguy did a few weeks ago. His "green giveaway". I enjoyed using the knife and having an opportunity to try a DF knive. to Siguy and David Farmer.

Its a very nice knife that came siguy sharp. The sheath is a bit worse for wear but still functional as a pocket sheath (loop has been removed).

It's just not my cup of tea. It won't replace my favorite and may end up collecting some dust if it stays here.

If you've never got to handle a David Farmer, heres your chance.

Thanks,

Chris

Me, Me Me!!!!!!!!! Now I will be thinking of something very yummy and good to send you. Hmmmm, The black berries will be blooming soon.....
EDIT: I spoke too soon, before the pics loaded on this dial-up. I shall see what I have a pic of. I am inspired to go to the wilderness and cook.

Neat challenge, thanks for the opportunity!

I'll play:

Mentor's Trail Trout and Spuds

(feeds two)

1 mid-sized trout (two fillets), scaled, skin on.
2 large potatoes
1 onion (substitute seasonal leeks)
2 cloves of garlic
a dash of cooking oil

Best cooked in a cast iron skillet over a campfire

1 - finely chop potatoes into small cubes. Marvel at the sharpness of your scandi ground knife.
2 - place cooking oil and potatoes in skillet. Cook for approx. 10 min. During this time, chop onion / leeks.
3 - push potatoes to rim of skillet. Add onions (and, if you're up for it, throw in some basil). Cook for 3 min. During this time, chop garlic.
4 - stir in garlic. Push potatoes, onions, and garlic to edge of skillet.
5 - add trout fillets, skin down. Allow to cook for 2 min.
6 - flip trout fillets once. Add pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes.

Serve trout fillets with side of potatoes, onions, and garlic. Goes nicely with rice. May attract bears.

(note that this picture doesn't depict the recipe as described. In this case, the spuds and onions were cooked in a separate pan)

All the best,

- Mike

twas delicious even more so with the hard crusty homemade bread slathered in butter

So far, there is a 1 in 5 chance of winning this knife. Pretty good odds for those that have entered. Maybe I should have put "give-away" in the title :p.

I'm closing this one up on Thursday and selecting a winner.
