Hello folks,
I was hoping you'd help me out a little bit here.

My daughter will be turning 8 this winter, and I want her to have a knife.

It would be easy enough to give her a hand me down, (since I have a 'few' extra knives kicking around) but she's really into pink and none of my knives are pink. Besides, I want her to have her own knife.

If you wouldn't mind, I'd love to hear your suggestions, or any advice you'd care to impart.

Thanks in advance for your time!
:)

I would go for an Opinel. You can paint the handle as you want. And ... there´s not snap or whatever she could get hurt when opening or closing. Just my thoughts... :)

Kind regards

Go with a Mora. Cheap, easy to replace, and a good knife to learn sharpening with. You don't have to worry about the lock failing if she abuses it, and a fixed blade is pretty much maintenance-free, too. No parts to lose or pivots to oil. I think Mora has a pink model, but it's hard to find; a wooden handled one would be easy enough to paint or dye, though.

+1 The best darn kids knives made...super kid friendly and super cheap.

Pink izula, or any neck knife for that matter. You could get some pink paracord and let her pick a wrap design she likes and wrap the handle together.

My boy turned 8 in February. He is a Cub Scout and got his whittling chip this summer. I got him a Victorinx Tinker.

My daughters first knife was a Buck Solo. Now she wants a Leatherman Juice S2 like mine or one of the other Juice variants.

Good Luck

Get her a pink Izula and find a vibrant paracord color (use ebay) and wrap it, that's what I did for my younger relatives

I started carrying knives when I was five and I started with SAKs. They're simple, light, you can get them sharp pretty easily and now they come in all sorts of colors. Just my 2 cents.
