I have been wanting to make a double knife rig for a long time. Something inline and not bulky. After many ideas that were trashed, here's what I came up with. Hand forged bowie and a blacksmith knife. The bowie is balanced at the guard and feels very fast in hand. It has a forged distal taper, starting at a little over 3/16"thick and a false clip.
Bowie Specs:
steel- 1095 (antiqued etch), differential quench
handle- wormy crepe myrtle wood
fittings- buggy tire and twisted copper wire
oal- 14 1/4"
blade- 9 1/8"

Blacksmith Knife Specs:
steel- 1095 (antiqued etch), differential quench
handle wrap- raw hide(saturated with super glue after drying) and twisted
copper wire
oal- 7 1/2"
blade-3 3/4"

I need to order shop supplies, so I am going to offer someone a real deal with this price drop.

Price $320 NEW PRICE $240 including USPS shipping and insurance. Payment USPS money order. Satisfaction guaranteed.
SOLD!

Mike: if that includes the sheath, I'll take it. Email me directly to larry44 at gmail.com.

Wicked price for a beautiful set. I love the consistent theme that ties the 3 pieces together.

The moment I saw this set posted I knew I wanted it but I couldn't afford the original price, which I knew was very fair. So I subscribed to the thread to see who would eventually end up with it. When Mike dropped the price I was sent the automatic forum email so I went right back to the thread, saw the price drop and told myself I had to have this.

Believe me, guys, I know how lucky I am to have bought such a beautiful example of art and workmanship.

Thank _you_ Mike!

I've bought lots of stuff via mail/internet order all my life, beginning with a bugle from Boy's Life and most recently the Bison Bowie Plus from Mike. I'd always thought my surprise at some of the luck-of-the-draw CMP M1 Garands and M1 carbines was the epitomy of pleasure opening the delivered box. Now that's all been put to shame.

When I opened Mike's Bison Plus set this afternoon I was stuck dumb by my dumb luck of being on the forum at just the right time. Mike - and to all others reading - this is a true work of art. It's not a $2,000 set bought for investment and put in the humidity controlled dark. Right now it's hung on a wrapped nail in a post in my office within sight and reach. My wife said I couldn't bring it to bed. She didn't know I bought it but I knew that she would appreciate the talent and craft of the entire set together, how the father bowie and the handle of wormy crêpe myrtle wood sets the color pattern followed in the rawhide wrapped blacksmith knife and the beads in the dangling decoration. It's awesome, balanced, beautifully made and antiqued and a true joy to know it's mine. I wasn't planning on doing this but I might now get dressed up in period (not sure which, yet) and go out with my 6-year-old on Halloween JUST so I can wear this set in public at least once.

Mike...thank you. You made a h**l of a set of knives tied together with a beautifuly constructed sheath and sold it to me for a bargain price. I owe you. You've done more than you thought. You and Stuart and others online here have given me the encouragement so see what it is you actually go through in order to create such wonderful tools and works of art, so...

I'm taking a full-day training course in Basic Blacksmithing at Olde Sturbridge Village about 1/2 hour away from me in MA. We'll start with basic fire and coal making and by the end of the day we'll know many of the tools and will have made ourselves several hooks and other trinkets to take home. I'm gonna' pound iron and spray sparks. I told them I want to learn the "old phart's bum shoulder" technique. The reservation clerk said he'll note it for the instructor.

MODERATOR: I know this isn't a chat room - I promise not to do it again. Just needed to express to Mike how pleased I am with his work and how happy I am with reading about everyone's elses. That's it. Signing off.

Thanks, Mike. We'll keep in touch!
