Bit Of A Wander; Fauna, Flora, & A New Hiking Buddy

I hope you don't mind mistwalker, but I love doing photo manipulations, and thought this was an amazing photo. I enhanced it, and left just the knife in color. Kind of a cool effect.

That looks cool, I'm not sure why the camera picks it up as blue though when my eyes pick it up as shades of green....

Cracking pics sir...and a real lovely looking knife from the Fiddleback forge.

How alien do those flowers look?!!!

Brian scores yet another beautiful Fiddleback :grumpy: :D

Thanks for taking us along.

Yeah, I just couldn't resist it...

Those passion fruit blooms are really exotic. When I see them I always think I'm in a sci fi movie.

Yeah, they do look rather alien. I've always marveled at how no other flower in the area looks anything like them. They are our state flower.

Great pics Mist and congrats on the new HB!

I always seem to learn something new from your threads - Thank You

Thanks RB, I'm glad you enjoyed the post. Always glad to hear someone learned something, those comments make posting them all worthwhile.

It's also called passionflower but if you got to be all technical. Geez.
I thought you were asking what it was but went back and I now realize you were asking about something else.

Yes lol, passion flower too.

Yeah, I've been told by a few now thatthe seed head is some type of Tragopogon. I've also been told it's great tinder for a fire piston, and I'm still kicking myself in the @$$ for not even thinking of trying that...

Looks like a nice blade. How do you like the scandi?

I like it a good bit actually. I got the KEB a while back and then got involved in a photo-literary project with some friends that is going to be published in the UK and am producing some fire starting material for them. Since the target audience is the UK I used the KEB a lot for a couple of weeks. I really like how the scandi grind leaves a lot of strength in thinner blades. When I saw this one at Blade I fell in love with it, but I would have fallen in love with it if it were one of Andy's convex or flat grinds too, it just so happened to be a scandi. I'm really not hung up on one particular grind per say.

Great Pictures Mist!
Its fun to see over the years how everyone's taste in knives changes, also just our collections. I have gone round and round, and now I am just back to the basics..puukkos and machete's. I had plenty of both 4 years ago, and sold a bunch...now I miss them. I wonder what you will have in 4 years?
Anyway, just ramblin on now.
I really like the combo you have now. Tough to get anything better than them!!!!

Yeah, I am getting lazier as I get older :D I really am liking smaller knives a LOT more than I once did, and I do know that for the most part they will do all that I usually need done... but I've gotten some of the ones I've gotten lately partly due to a photo/literary project I am working on that is to be published in the UK and needs to be done using tools commonly used there. Who knows what I'll be carrying four years from now...but I haven't completely sold out yet though, I just traded a guy a new Izula for a full sized Ka-Bar :) That said, I do like this combo a lot!!

Thanks for sharing cool close-up shots, mistwalker.
Looks like you're gaining so many great blades recently.
This little one too, is so pretty. Your shots are also great that
I can see it is well designed and executed both in its shape and colour.

Thanks fujita, yeah...I like knives to an unatural extent...

Andy does excellent work, awesome knives.

Thank you, glad you enjoyed the photos!

I'm fairly certain handled that very knife at Blade and seriously considered it. Andy's work is fantastic. Great to see it found a home.

Beautiful pics.

Thanks man, glad you enjoyed the pics.

Man, I wanted that thing from the moment I laid eyes on it, and from what I've heard I am damned lucky to have gotten it after waiting all day to make a decision. I'm glad it found a home too.
