Just purchased a Sage 2 Ti and super excited about it!

Couldn't pass it up $140 shipped.

Anyone else own this knife and want to share their thoughts/opinions/PICTURES??

Think this knife looks super nice

Been lusting after one for awhile, but haven't 'bit the bullet'. Sounds like a good price.

You got a wonderful knife at a great price. Congratulations on your purchase, I love the Sages.

Yeah after circling the sage 2 on eBay like a hawk I found the average price range for "buy it now" shipped was $160-175 so $140 I just couldn't pass up.

SageII is a good knife. I carry mine all the time.

Thanx for the interest and support, Zippo,

The Sage is an intersting piece in general. the design is a synthesis of the Wide Native pattern (no hump on the spine of the blade), and the Caly3, which is a narrow "gent's" folder, (with a larger hump). We created the design to be able to fit a wide variety of folding knife locks within the one pattern.

Each model will feature the materials of choice by the creator of the lock. Each will use CPM-S30V for the blade.

In the first SAge model, we featured a Michael Walker Linerlock". In the second Sage model, we featured the "Reeve Integral Lock" (which we call a "RIL"). Made from 6Al4V Titanium to very close tolerances, It is in my opinion and excellent model to honor Chris Reeve.

We are currently working on the third version which will feauture a Blackie Collins "Bolt Action" lock.

In each case, the lock significantly influenced the knife industry.

Apologies for the "sales pitch". :o

Being a new member to Blade Forums I feel honored to have you post on my thread Sal!!! X]]

And yes super excited to see the Sage 3!
Genius to have a line of knives differentiating the locks to each ongoing model.

I'm about to purchase a Sage myself, but I am conflicted between the Sage and Sage 2. Is the Titanium that much more impressive than the CF and is it worth the extra $50? I personally like the looks of the CF, but I like the Reeve Integral Lock better than the Linerlock.
Opinions???

Get the CF first.

Any reason why I shouldn't go ahead and invest the extra $50 for the Titanium?
What's so special about Titanium anyway???
From what I have read it's not lighter than the CF.
I'm also interested in the Native CF and the Caly 3 CF.
What are your all's experiences with either of the 3?

I do not own any sages yet but the reason the titanium is $50 more is because its a ti framelock. The titanium is pretty spendy stuff but it makes for an excellent heavy duty frame. The frame lock is quite a bit stronger than the liner lock and the strength to weight ratio is just amazing. I resently picked up a Bradley Alias 1 and it hasn't left my pocket since. However the CF Sage looks to be an amazing knife as well and I've never heard of anyone ever having any troubles with a Spyderco liner lock. In fact the Military fans herald them as godly. I plan the pick up the whole sage series when I get the funds together.

Reason why I went with the Sage 2 is because I like the overall look of the knife a bit more than the CF. I do love CF as well and have a couple spydies in CF and love em. Just wanted to change it up and with this knife I think it's alot classier with the Ti and it's nice to have the comfort of the stronger lock [although there is absolutely nothing wrong with spyderco's liner locks]

Like most spydie lovers on this forum im sure I will break and end up buying the CF as well.

I have a Sage II as well, and I love it. I don't really know why I sprung for the TI version-I'd always liked the look of CF and thought "big deal" when people lusted over titanium, but after reading some descriptions about the texture of CF it appealed to me less and less..

It is more expensive but it feels great in the hand, and I don't regret it a bit. There's no real good reason to spring for the TI version in my opinion, it's just a matter of personal preference.

What are the complaints about the tecture of the CF Sage?
I think I would rather have some texture/grip on my EDC folder.
And I doubt I will ever be in a situation where I would need the added toughness of the Sage 2's TI or Integral Lock....but I guess some people might???

I don't have any cf Spydercos so I can't speak from personal experience. I've read and seen video reviews that some people think the cf grips are too slick and don't have enough texture.

Apparently the CF on the Sage has VERY good texturing and is beyond grippier than the slick CF on the Caly 3.

This is not said from personal experience, but from several video reviews found on youtube

I own a Bob T slipit which is also made at they're Taiwan plant and the carbon fiber scales on it are nice and grippy. They're not polished smooth like it looks in the pictures, the weave actually protrudes the scale face creating texture if you can picture that. I would say that it provides nearly the same grip as many makers g10. I didn't think that I would like the feel of the carbon fiber before but now that I have some I must say that I will probably be purchasing other knives of the same material. Possibly a cf Stretch II....... Neways go get one.
