I have been eyeballing this system for months and drooling over it. It is an expensive purchase for me so that kept me from pulling the trigger but I just got done filing my taxes and decided just to close my eyes and go for it. I have never actually had buyer's remorse on any knife related purchase that I have made. After reading the reviews I am sure this will not be the exception once it gets in my hands. So now the anxious/excited waiting begins.

Awesome. I'm thinking one might be in my future (just got handed my W2 and the wheels started turning)

Youre gonna love it. My one bit of advice is to reserve judgment on the grits of the diamond stones until they've had a chance to break in, there is quite a bit of extra diamond on them that needs to come off before they'll really preform to their full potential.

I love mine. I've had an edge pro, dmt aligner, diamond plates, sharpmaker, grinders, etc., but the wicked edge is by far my favorite way to sharpen now. My edges still aren't perfect in terms of polish, but I'm still working on that. I think you'll be happy with yours.

I have finally gotten the hang of it, it takes a while so be patient! I think you will love it though. That's great advice above, wait for the stones to break in before passing judgement. Also, practice on cheap knives first!

It does take a while to reprofile an edge, sometimes several hours. Remember to take your time and raise a burr on both sides with the 100 grit red stones before moving up. I think that's the #1 problem people who are new to the WEPS seem to run into.

I tend to be pretty patient learning new systems like this, took me a long time to get my 0350 shaving sharp on a sharpmaker too. I think a lot of the satisfaction comes from seeing better and better results as you improve techniques. This is why I like target shooting as well.

Once you notice that the cost of 2-3 "nice" knives is equal to or greater than that setup, you'll feel better :) GREAT investment

I've never had a problem with this. Several hours? The longest it ever took me to reprofile an edge on the wicked edge was probably 10 minutes.

Great purchase - you'll love it! Lots of great advice out there on using the system, take your time, have fun and let us know how it goes!

It depends what kind of steel you are working with. Reprofiling a Queen hunter in D2 is going to take longer than 10 minutes :)

Cpm D2, D2, 154cm, vg-10, s30v, zdp, etc. The coarse/medium paddles remove material very quickly, so quickly in fact that I would recommend paying extra attention to the edge when grinding as you could take too much material off fairly easily.

Will do bob it is actually you I purchased from. Heard great things about you and was very pleased with the thorough email I got for an order confirmation. That awesome service really sets you apart in my eyes.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong but it seems like it takes a while to raise a burr on both sides and then polish slowly.

One thing you can try, instead of the sharpening method shown in the instructions, is to "scrub" each side of the knife, moving the stone up and down as you go back and forth from heel to tip, until a burr forms. This works a lot faster for setting a bevel or reprofiling an edge. If you look at some YouTube videos, you'll see this method used.

No... the key that turns the screws on the clamp, also fits the screws for the base.

I had the Edge Pro for some time before I got the Wicked Edge and became fairly proficient with it. Now i use only the Wicked Edge.
