been there. I have had to go get stitches twice in a year. The last trip may never recover. I severed the nerve in my right thumb. I knew it was bad when it sprayed blood. I rolled the edge on the bone. It still gives a shock when I bump it, or water hits it, or I grab anything without being careful.
I knew it was going to be a problem the instant the blade cut. The thumb went instantly numb.
My FBMLE cut the back of two of my fingers on my right hand right the joint too.
Hopefully I won't have to go back to the emergency room any time soon, although the emergency room stitches guy was much much much better than my family doctor who did the stitches on the back of my fingers. He kept stabbing my finger and going through the wound and finally gave up on numbing it, because he could not hold his hands still enough to get the needle in. He kept poking the needle all the way through and then squirting the numbing stuff out on my shirt. Then he kept missing with stitches. He did more stitches through my finger in places where it was not cut than he made successful stitches though the cut. After a couple of stitches though my finger about 1/4 inch away from where it was actually cut, he gave up and called it good with only three stitches, which tore out a day or two later.
