Bittersweet

Hey, as everyone else said, Dads are important and the time spent is worth anything! If they give you trouble, kickim in then nuts and set them on fire. Life is too short to put up with self absorbed jerks! Take care and take it in stride! Steven

Dwayne--take it from me, I know. I work for a hospice inpatient unit. We trade our time for all kinds of things in this life...food, shelter, and other stuff. How we spend our time is another matter. You must never let anyone let you feel like time spent with a loved one...or in pursuit of time with a loved one...is EVER wasted. It is the one thing we never have enough of. Hang in there. Your work has earned my business and will earn the business of others. Peace and love! :)

A girl needs a knife...

Dad went through the same thing back in 94. Colon cancer spred into the liver, and despite treatments he died in 96 on Christmas. I tried to spend as much time with him right until the bitter end. Looking back I wished I could have spent more time, as life is precious and terrribly short.

Mom is now having mini-strokes, and I know that her time is now very short too, and I will do everything I can to spend time with her and make her life as comfortable as possible.

Yes spend as much quality time as possible with your loved ones. Life is very short, and the world is a difficult place, but love does alot to keep the soul healthy and alive.

Dwayne,No Regrets Man !!!
Family 1st...Glad to hear your Father is making an improvement.Stay strong.

No changes on my part.
Jim

Dwayne, anyone who doesn't understand, screw 'em.

One day they will learn what is important in life, and it isn't material items.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and yours bud.

Now get to work and quit apologizin...LOL
:p

As Mike and others here had previously said, is 1000% true. Screw'em!
Life is to precious and days are to short. People don't realize this until it's to late. Be with your family! Family is always first ...everything else comes second.

Me and my familys prayers are with U and yours.

Dwayne & Stacy,

I'm on your list, when I would 'occasionally' remember that
I found myself wondering how your father was doing, NOT "when is my sheath order coming up".

I lost my grandfather when I was young, and didn't have the opportunity to say goodbye, that memory is still with me.

Let's see now, new sheath for me, or the opportunity for your daughter to spend some time with her Grandfather while she still can. Don't have to think long about that one.

You did the right thing for your family, that speaks highly of your character.

Glad he's feeling better !

What he said! Having been in this situation while self emplyed in the late '80's, I can tell you that the price was steep but I regret not one second of the time with my father.

Bill

as far as i am concerned, no apology necessary.

family comes first.

anyone that made negative comments does not know you, your wife, or your work.

you and stacy are class acts. you deserve our business, but you deserve our friendship and understanding even more.

You did right, Dwayne. No apology needed in my book. The work, INFI & all us Hogs will be around for quite a while. You and the family spend as much time together as possible while you still have the opportunity.

Don't let the quakers, stinkers & floaters (a coffee reference) get to you. :)

You have your priorities in the right order. I don't currently have any sheathes on order, but you always busted your tail in the past to get them done quickly for me, so, I will not hesitate to order more when I'm ready! Keep the spirits up and take care of your family. :D

First of all, great news about the success of the treatment. Second, screw 'em.

Rick

Some one needs to find a video clip to insert here. The one I have in mind is Anthony Hopkins portraying the stroke ravaged Col. Ludlow in Legends of the Fall. You know the one, "Screw em'!"

Jusy leave it to 'Ducci to say it best. I got my sheaths in great time. Great work too, no short cuts there.

No regrets, Bro. Care for family first, always.

God Bless

Hi Dwayne,
The time you spent with your Father is not time wasted. It is time well spent and you can never get that back if you had not spent it with him. I'm not worried about the sheaths I have on order and if it helps I'll be happy to pay in advance in full. Just send me the correct Paypal link(I have two for you??) and I'll pay in full. I appreciate all the hard work you've done for me and I can wait until you get around to my order. Don't beat yourself up or hurt YOUR health by working to much.

Thank you for all you've done for me in the past and all you'll do for me in the future. You are a true master craftsman and I feel lucky to own a piece of art created by you.

LeatherHOG: As others here have stated, you did the right thing. I am sure that by now you have made it clear to your customers the situation. If they can't understand that then they really need to move on. But I am sure, that once you have explained, most if not all will be understanding.

Smoke and prayers sent from your brother in INFI! :)

Well guys...

You can direct all of your "Screw 'Em" comments directly to me. I have been here less than one year. I am still learning a few things about knives, and about people here.

I have had frustrations with regards to sheaths from 1/2 the sheath makers recommended on the BCS and Busse Combat sites. I can wait, but communication is king. I respect each and every sheath maker I have talked to. I am floored by each piece of art they produce. Waiting isn't the problem, but it is frustrating. Communication goes a long way. I have paid for and am waiting for a sheath from Dave Brown now for over 6 months. He has been good with communication until recently. He even offered free sheaths to me for the long wait time (which I refused as communication on how things were progressing were always good).

This was my exact email to Stacy, which Dwayne responded to:
"I didn't get a response from my last email and it's been another 3 months since hearing from you last. It's been over 10 months since I first contacted you, and since I have seen other sheaths made available to people that clearly placed orders after mine for models that were released after my initial order, I am assuming that you do not want my business. I know Dwayne is busy as he is a one man show. Maybe your hands are tied. I have sheath needs and am forced to use other sheath makers. You can remove me from your order log."

After a couple of emails, I realized that I had made an incorrect assumption. I made sure to tell Dwayne that and hoped that I hadn't been too much of an a$$. I also apologized to him with no expectations to be treated any differently nor to be put back on his order log. My loss...

Each and every post Dwayne has made regarding his personal life, I have commented with supportive statements and condolences. So... I feel responsible for this post.

Flame away, either way it is what it is at this point and I can move on, but I didn't expect this to be brought up publicly. I won't hide and I will own up if my actions caused problems...

*laying low for a while*

Jeepnut22: No "flames" needed. I am sure there were others that this post addresses as well but the difference is that you understood, once the situation was made clear to you, and made it known. Even publically, which was not needed IMHO, but you did anyway. That shows character in my book. ;)

jeepnut,

even though your email was a bit unfair in its assumptions, i suspect it is someone who more recently contacted dwayne or stacy.

you appear to have rectified your situation, and prove yourself to be a stand up guy by posting honestly what had transpired.

as for me, i typically have a standing order that i am always adding to and subtracting from. it also took me a while to get the hang of getting a sheath. it was initially why i waited months to buy my first busse. but as we can see, i am clearly over that hurdle.

Way to man up Jeepnut. If Dwayne holds no grudge, then who are we to do so.

Hey wait, you didn't make Amy cry too did ya? :D Just messing with you. You proved you are too much of a man to have done that.
