BK 10 vs Condor Crotalus???

Several have ground the thumb ramp off. It's a common mod on the BK10. I have no experience with the Condor Crotalus. The BK10 is 1095CV, and the Condor is 1075. I give the BK10 cred over the Condor for just that one reason. I have owned a few Condors over the years. They have worked okay, but I find their QC lacking. That said, the Crotalus is a fine looking knife. I like that Condor mainly has large handles on their blades. A plus for me, being a large handed person.

I've heard that about their QC.

Noted...

Thanks!

Heck yeah!

Awesome!

Thanks for the pic and encouragement!

Definitely not so scared to remove the thumb ramp now!
#1066vik took the thumb ramp off and rounded the top of clip point off before passing the knife on to me . I don't know the Condor knife you mentioned. I do have a Condor Rodan which I think was Condor's attempt at something similar to the Bk 10 and it isn't near the BK-10

Yeah, I'm holding my bk 10 right now and wow... What a knife!

Which is why I'm somewhat hesitant to hack off that thumb ramp -The balance is pretty spot on out of the box and I would hate to mess with it... But that thumb ramp is seriously aggressive. I actually like knives that have the opposite -A slight concave where the thumb ramp typically is...

Never finished smoothing out my clip mod but did remove the ramp...

Love it!

Love that brown handle... Knife works?? What material?

Did you grind down the pommel on that bk9??
Those are Knife Connection g10 scales on the 10.

Yes, on my BK9 “fighter” I ground it down so that it has a slight peak on the bottom. It wouldn’t feel good getting struck by that. ;)

I used a hand held belt sander that I clamped on its side to a work table. Taped the blade and worked slowly. Also, I kept a bucket of water nearby and dunked it every 30 seconds so that I wouldn’t mess up the heat treat.

Nice! Thank you!

And in your opinion does the Bk10 still serves as a good chopper when necessary? I've ground down some knives before and am aware of how taking away what seems like a small amount of metal can mess with the balance. And that thumb ramp seems like a pretty big piece of metal. Curious about your experience pre and post thumb ramp...

To be honest, the 10 never was my go to chopper. Ethan created the 10 as a modern version of the air force survival knife. As such, it’s a little small for chopping in my opinion. Sure you could baton with it, but for chopping grab the 9!

Roger that! Thank you!

yeah, where I live 6 in is the limit for carry. I have some kershaw camp 10's for if I really need to get down chopping wise, but was looking for a good 6 in. or less that could still get the job done if need be. I should probably be looking at the bk2!

Thank you for your responses!
