Bk 14 rip off?

So while we are here and on the subject. Is it true that a blade forums member performed the modification of joining the ESEE Izula and the BK11 by welding them together. Is this how the BK 14 was born?If it is true who is this genius?

Yes this is where it all began, I will try to find the thread that shows what that forum member did and how hints of the collaboration came to be, but I am sure someone will beat me to it... I am horrible at searching forums...

Edit: See I got beat just while I typed it!!! haha

You ask and you shall receive.............or get called an idiot and told to use the search box:D Thanks for not calling me a idiot and for hooking me up with that nugget of knowlege.

Hate to also jack the thread, but would you guys personally choose an Izula or the Eskabar? Seems the Eskabar is cheaper and is getting a good following, and I wouldn't mind a smaller fixed blade for summer edc. Thanks!

I have the eskabar.. Plan on getting the izula. So it doesn't matter which you buy you end up with both.

Have both. Don't like the Eskabar as much because it has so much weight at the front, though I really wanted to like it because the blade shape is nice. The balance point is slightly on the blade side of where my index finger sits, so it feels like it wants to fall forward. It's so close to that first finger, though, that it might not bother you; it bothers me, however. They thickened the metal around the hole (compared to the Izula) to combat that some, but that didn't fix it and unfortunately made it heavier while making the hole less useful. Throw on top the sheath dulls the blade (search around, as that is widely reported), and with the cost of a new sheath, it's as much if not more than an Izula.

The Eskabar has a strong following, so it's worth search around the forum for more opinions first before buying one or the other just based on mine.

Like kreole, I also found the BK14 to be blade heavy and less comfortable to use because of it. And, I prefer the Izula's stock sheath to the Becker sheath. The Izula with a set of T-K-C scales is just about perfect for me as a pocket FB.
