Pretty sure I commented on this already way back when, but have gotten much more experience since then, I will say I like some jimping. Helps the grip tremendously when you can get your thumb locked up on an area.

Anyone use the old grip tape/ skateboard tape trick? I really hesitate to cut into the spine of a knife without a mill to really do it perfectly, but if I were doing detail work often with my 2, I'd throw something on the thumb for support maybe. Course, when I'm using it to cut THROUGH A TANK it's not so much of an issue...

I did the skateboard tape trick, and it worked. I just didn't like the way it felt or looked as much as jimping. Try it, because if you like it, you save yourself some work!
