BK-2 or BK-7?

I am looking at either a Becker BK-2 or BK-7 for normal outdoors work. I am new here and love the outdoors, and get outside as much as possible.

I need a knife that will hold up to abuse and that will be fast in hand. It also needs great chopping ability and batoning ability.

So, which option will be better? 7 or 2?

Thanks so much, as I know all the replies will be helpful.

I don't have the 7, so can only comment on the 2. It's a beast of a knife. Quarter inch thick, and not likely to break, unless you throw it, which it's not made for. Can chop and baton quite well. It also has a drop point, that makes the point harder to break. I think it's the best all rounder, but I'm sure others will disagree. Like I said, I don't have the 7 for comparison.

I say go for the 2 but then again I don't have a 7. I am really happy with how well my 2 chops, especially after I convexed the edge. That thing is a tank and the .25 thick blade would probably let you batton through one!

now my Go to bk2 pic (you all are probably sick of seeing it but oh well)

I vote BK-2.

Just so you know, me and Kuke here are best friends in real life.

We live about 10 mins away from each other.

Kuke, you WILL be borrowing my BK-2. I will make you.

PICS!!

You will probably end up with both but I think the BK-7 would be a better choice for wood processing since it provides the length to baton through larger pieces of wood.
I have the BK-2 and BK-77, I have not used either one yet but if I had to choose just one, It would be the 7.

Thanks guy's but please stick to the question asked. I don't like the BK5's shape. So far I'm thinking about the BK2 for my go-to knife but the BK7 is longer providing better batonning ability as mentioned before.

the op has spoken!!!

I used the BK7 for along time, It was a constant woods companion, and an outstanding survival blade, I thought it worked well when paired with a SAK type pocket knife

I used mine for fine carving such as trap parts

SAdly I gave it to my camping buddy who was lacking for a good knife.. While I am glad it has a good home, I will be getting another once funds allow.
if there is one thing better than a bk7 its spreading the love.
I also owned a 2.. for me the 7 is while longer is more lively in the hand, Imo

Great pics Rescueriley, btw. Still dig that hat.

Between the 2 and 7 I vote for the BK2 because it is a beast that can take everything you throw at it and more. both are great choices though...

Between the 2 and 7?
The 2 hands down, Heck you could baton through a 7, chop a cord of wood and still shave with it.

Throw some paracord on it and you can have the whirlycopter grappling hook of destruction.

I had a 7 but it didn't get used. My 2 is a beauty, gets used, takes whatever i throw at it, and won't ever be sold. I'll pass it on to my older son someday, it is certainly going to outlast me!
