BK-2 or BK-7?

Although the BK7 was my Becker cherry, I would say go for the 2 first, and as expected, you're going to end up with a whole lot more Beckers. They're like Lay's potato chips, you can't just eat 1. (Ok, so maybe you don't want to eat the steel but you get my drift)

BK16. :D

Naw, I keed, I keed.

The BK7 was my first in, and its a whole lot of knife for what you pay. There is nothing, nothing it can't do in the woods. Its the most versitile and universal knife in the BKT lineup.

Though, the BK2 is my favorite..........

I'm in the minority also. I don't like how heavy the BK2 is. I want a knife that can dance a jig with me. Having handled Haze's 9, which should be arriving at GODSPEED's door any time now, I'd be more inclined to go 7, although I don't own one. Too bad the BK10's are gone :)

well, if you want all that honey badger goodness, the BK9 is the way to go for chopping and batoning length.

abuse your knife? no please ;>

the 2 is the built like a tank model. not the bed at chopping, batons well, but it shortish.

the 7 is longer, thinner, and somewhat more versatile, has that up front swedge, which damages batons, and doesn't make it longer in my mind, as a result.

the 9 is longer by far, thus the swedge isn't as much an issue. more mass to chop with.

I think I might go against the crowd on this one. The BK2 is great, but my main "beef" with it is really just that it is so beefy that it makes me want to take on pieces of wood that are literally larger than the length of the blade.

My BK9 works great for batoning, and I can't imagine that the BK7 is worse. And the BK7 should be a bit more "knifey" than the BK2. Plus, when you and MKK go camping or whatever, you'll have more variety to play with, which is always fun :).

I dont own a BK-7 yet. And I say yet because I will definately own one in the near future. Buy the BK-2 first. It does not dissapoint. You can get the BK-7 next and have two fantastic knives.

WARNING: Becker knives are highly addictive. Possible side effects may include the need to buy more Becker knives, modding Becker knives, not leaving home without Becker knives, and a proud feeling of ownership. Other possible side effects may include hanging out in the BK&T sub forum on BF and indulging in all sorts of slullduggery and general tomfoolery. Wait...what?

Between the 2 and 7 I vote for the BK2 because it is a beast that can take everything you throw at it and more. both are great choices though...
With the exception of logs longer than 5". I vote for the bk2 also because of the forward balance and smaller size, even though is heavier, shorter and thicker than the bk7

Get the 2 and a hatchet to go with it for further wood processing. Much easier in my opinion.

Both ! :D

As others have said, you can't go wrong with either.
As with all gear, it will come down to personnel preference.

I have both, and like I said, both are great. But, I use the 7 a lot more.
Again, just personnel preference, but I like the thinner, longer blade and finer tip, for a camp/general use knife.
And while some don't like the thumb ramp, it works for me.

Good luck and welcome.
