One's thicker and one is longer. And you can get 2 bk2s for the price of one 12. But whatever you prefer is the one for you.

Both are great knives. I have both and for everyday tasks the 12 is easier in the hand due to the better balance. That being said once your comfortable with the 2 it will not let you down. If I had to buy one of them again I would get the 2.

I stick with the bk2, there's something not appealing to me with the12, i own a couple bk2 , one kabar and the other is a camillus.

I wouldn't say it's a must have, but if you get your hands on one...they're pretty awesome. If they were easier to aquire and priced like the other Beckers, I'd say ya gotta have it...

I don't have a 2 for a comparison pic, but here's a 12 sandwiched between 2 ESEE knives:

slightly longer than the BK2, 3/16" stock instead of 1/4", ramp.

If you have the means, the 12 is more versatile IMO. I like it so much I just picked up a second one minutes ago....it's pricier than the 2 for sure, but....the price difference is worth it to me.

I have a BJK BKT12 that's a favorite of mine. I too think it is just a smidge better than the 2.

I love my 12. Enough to invest in a custom Kydex sheath that's awesome. The balance is really great with all 3 weights removed.... Prefer it to the 2 hands down.

I have 2 bk12s. The quality of knife that you get from Rowen is far superior to Kabar. My biggest gripe for the bk12 is it is quite thick behind the edge so it isnt a great slicer, but I did slash my arm by accident with it once so I guess it is sharp. The powder coat is bullet proof and 10 steps above that of kabar. The BK12 wont be the same beast as the BK2, but do you really need a 1/4 inch blade stock? I find 3/16ths to be enough. (Aesthtically I prefer not to have the swedge on the BK12) Over all it comes down to the little things, but Rowen does a make a superior knife.

Why not both? ;)

But seriously, I'd take my 12 over my 2 any day.

This knife is the one that really started it for me. Not in general, but this specific knife of Geektechnica's that I got to handle at the 2013 Northeast Gathering. Couldn't get the desire out of my head to get a 12 after that....and I have no regrets about doing so. Great pack knife and awesome all-rounder.

A BK10 is similar. You could get a 2 and a 10...10+2=12
If you get them used it might be less than the 12

Honestly... I got my 12 used for $80, otherwise I'd prob have a 10 which I still don't have only because I have the 12. You could also consider the 7.
