Honestly, the carrying it my hand thing was strictly for fun thoughts about people's reactions. Think about it - a flat affect, combined with with the right gait and mannerisms - knife lowered, as if unaware of its presence - could really creep people out. Alternatively, one could easily switch gears - waiting until you know that both you and the knife have been noticed, then pretending to try to conceal the knife while veering off the trail to avoid contact...maybe trying to hide once a safe distance has been reached, or conspicuously stashing the knife and continuing to walk further off trail.Aias said:Carrying that in my hand may be a little too much for the SoCal folks, at least on the local moderate trails in the nearby San Gabriel mountains.

No. I am too aware of the possible repercussions, and not just to myself, to be doing things like that...but I appreciate the way my mind works, and enjoy the imagery.
Strapped to my pack would be the way I carry it. Unless, of course, I actually do have a psychotic break - in which case, all bets are off.
Only 64 left - almost time to decide if I want another set.

dammit, you guys influenced me at a very suggestible moment.
I've alerted the RI constabulary. There's no WAY that thing will pass muster as a "hunting knife". Pretty sure it's well over the 3" blade length limit you got there.
