This must really be on my mind because it came to me this morning when I was half asleep listening to the rain...what is Mr. B’s next new knife?? Light bulb goes off....Improved BK-4!!

Taking what he’s learned through the years from Reinhardt and others, then combining that with his maturing design experience and knowledge, I am confident he could give the knife world a new iconic knife! I mean his first knife is pretty legendary, what 30+ years in production, I think he could improve it and the market would go crazy! (No pressure Mr. Becker, haha!)

Should this be his next knife? What do y’all think?

Smatchet. The answer is always smatchet.:D

A Becker handled smatchet, aka a Becker Batchet would be cool.

Then, so would a Becker handled 18" to 22" bladed "coupe choux", i.e., the French M1816/M1831 or US M1832 Artillery swords, aka the Becker Bladius. Oh, wait that sounds too much like "bladder", so maybe a cooler name like the Becker BAK, short for "Bad Axx Knife".:p:rolleyes::D

well, bolo, along the lines of the thing that Siegel came up with. that can chop. though, let's stick with flat facets and a square spine.

a couple mid sized knives and a good chopper. that's the ticket. i'm all over one tool that does all jobs :D

Becker's Batons - properly seasoned batons pair with a fine knife

I sure hope so; it's been too long since I converted cold hard cash into heat hardened 1095 CroVan.

Quess I was thinking it could stay the same general weight and length but maybe with an improved shape with a larger sweet spot and a little less angle between the handle and blade. If it went 1/4” thickness maybe the weight could be offset with fullers and/or reduced spine width to keep some of the nimbleness. That’s part of what I like about the 4, larger knife performance but when most people handle one it’s smaller than they thought; efficiency!

Rebel Nimrod,
Perhaps your poll should be if you would buy one or not? Wanting to see it on the market and being willing to purchase are not the same thing.

Yeah, not much longer. Maybe just an inch, but definitely heavier. I don't think that would affect smaller tasks much.

Ok, guess I was thinking of keeping it more versatile, never have used the thicker original so maybe I’m speaking from ignorance. I would rather see an option for the 9 being a heavier/longer chopper...

Oh, don't mess with me 9, thank you. ;) :D

That’s what I first typed in and then thought people would need a better idea of the design before they would want to buy one. Thinking this tread would be more like a “wish list” to hear what Becker fans would prefer in a new 4. Buy - See, at this point it’s theoretical anyway.
